Sensei_Rebel Normally we'd never be friends with random people on a plane, but these 10 were forced into it and ended up showing we can actually become just as attached to each other given an extreme situation. Good leads to evil, evil leads to good. It's very hard for people to understand how the two are related and need each other. Toomy was considered evil by everyone except the girl he murdered. She understood he had been abused by his father verbally his entire childhood. In the end, the movie shows we can bond with anybody in the right circumstances and even understand and forgive why they would want to murder us.I think the way this story broke down societal boundaries was more important than the sci-fi element, and the touching and emotional element was the main thing all along. People can fall in love all of a sudden in such a situation and cut through all the BS humans deal with from day to day. The Langoliers is a sci-fi story about literally getting stuck in the past by about 15 minutes. Human beings waste so much time not enjoying life the way they really want to, and these passengers were stuck in the past and finally got their wish to enjoy the moment. This movie is about love and the ability to bond being right in front of you and all you have to do is grab it (but you never do it the easy way in real life do you?), and it's also about everyone having a purpose to serve, even the abused Toomy who couldn't stand reality anymore.Normally we'd never be friends with random people on a plane, but these 10 were forced into it and ended up showing we can actually become just as attached to each other given an extreme situation. Rainey Dawn We start off in an airplane full of people when one of the pilots sees an aurora. The plane is on autopilot when one of the pilots falls asleep along with 9 passengers. When they awaken, they find themselves trying to figure out where everyone went. Everyone else seems to have disappeared leaving behind all of their belongings. One of the survivors goes mad on the plane, Mr. Toomy but is quickly snapped out of it (sorta). When the plane finally lands they find themselves in what seems to be an abandoned airport and they cannot contact anyone. The food is spoiled, beverages are flat, matches won't light, no echo - something is majorly wrong. They figure out they have experienced a rip in time through the aurora. The young blind girl, Dinah Bellman, has super hearing and hears a snap-crackle-popping sound in the distance drawing near, Mr. Toomy is convinced it's The Langoliers! Time is literally running out for the group to figure out how to get out of there. This one winds up being a lot of fun, an interesting mystery for first time viewers and a great re-watch for those that have already seen the film. It's a guilty pleasure film for me.8/10
OllieSuave-007 This is a great thriller based on Stephen King's novel where a group of travelers awaken to realize they are the only 10 survivors on a plane - everyone else has vanished! They land in a remote airport, where everything surrounding it including the air is still. There, they try to find out where all the people went and why they are the only ones standing. It's an exciting unpredictable mini-series full of plot twists and surprising moments, from the suspenseful investigation scenes around the mysterious airport to the eerie and horrific sounds that they hear approaching them.Supported by some pretty good acting, a fast-paced plot and bone-chilling action, this mini-series is one thriller you don't want to miss! Grade B
CinefanR Everything is this movie is painfully bad- acting, story-line, script, special effects. It's true that my expectations were high. I've heard a lot about Stephen King and I imagined that such a celebrated writer would come up with something brilliant and original. I was expecting to see a spark of genius from the so-called "master of horror". Boy, was I wrong... The first 10 minutes or so make a promising start and I thought the premise was intriguing. After that, it falls flat on all levels. Pretentious, uninteresting one-dimensional characters… check. Terribly written dialogue… check. Ridiculous special effects… check. The acting is atrocious, check that too. The sense of mystery is basically zero, probably because the viewer can't ignore the fact that everything takes place in a cheap TV set.And the worst part is that it goes on and on, and on… for 3 hours. The only reason I kept watching was to see if maybe a good conclusion or some clever twist in the story line would save it somehow, but no. This movie is nothing more than the usual sci-fi clichés piled up to the very end, while the production standards are beyond embarrassing.
