Synopsis

Toonsylvania is an animated television series, which ran for 2 seasons in 1998 on FOX's Saturday morning cartoon block in its first season, then was moved to Tuesday afternoons from September 14, 1998 until December 21, 1998, when it was cancelled. Reruns aired until 2000. It was produced in part by Steven Spielberg, following in the footsteps of his previous animated series, Tiny Toon Adventures and Animaniacs. Much like Animaniacs, the show had recurring cartoon series that appeared in each episode. Unlike Animaniacs, Toonsylvania didn't have a wide range of characters and almost every episode had the same cartoon segments.

Reviews

Ginger87 Toonsylvania was a classical cartoon. It was funny and had very clever episodes. My favorite characters were Melissa Screetch and the zombie family. I especially liked the episode when Melissa Screetch met the three bears and tried to take over their house. That really gave me some good laughs. My favorite Zombie family episode was when Ashley the daughter wanted to be a cheerleader and Fred the son was in a magic show. That too was so funny. I was sad to see this show leave after a few years of watching it. Steven Spielberg did a good job creating this show and him and Toonsylvania deserve 10/10 stars! I hope one day they bring back this show with new episodes or just the good old reruns.
Angel-Marie Like "Ren and Stimpy", this cartoon was a throwback to the days when cartoons were in the theaters and appealed to older audiences. The twisted humor this series had was really something else. Of course, like all cartoons trying to tap into the warped humor of the theatrical cartoon, this one was put into a time slot where no one would watch it and was subsequently cancelled in favor of cartoon shows that were nothing more than thirty-minute commercials for a stupid fad.I really loved this series. Why did it have to die?!
dead_but_happy Normally it is wise to avoid anything that has anything what-so-ever to do with Spielberg. However, this is a delightfull exception (there are ofcourse others).Anyway, the amusingly morbid humor in this show makes me wonder how it could be made in the land of Morality.. It's simply too great to be american kids entertainment. It's a pity though that I haven't seen all the episodes yet, I discovered it too late.. But when I did, I really fell in love!
