zvonnydamne She's a punk chick. He's a dumbo. Maybe in reverse, i don't know. They see each other at airport and trying to establish some sort of aural connection. Electricity is in the air and cost nothing. Then they got high in the sky and have intercourse with each other. That's the first five minutes of the movie and you can feel real romance. But it's not. What's the point when they act like stupid people? Is love stupid? Is life a embarrassment for the living? My eyes saw it and were in disbelief.First point is the first five minutes. Second is the next six and a half years these weirdos chasing each other while got successful businesses (selling diapers), failed relationships (in both ways their companions just saying "i'm leaving" without much consequences) and photo gallerys (chick doesn't know how to selfie). While chasing they pose naked, simulating choking and drive relentlessly while stuffing their nose with glasses (don't ask why). Peter Cetera's voice in the set.So is this "romance" is worth anybody's time? As main character's deaf brother said - "Life doesn't wait for you to get back on your feet." Don't fall in this movie's trap.
jbs-95581 This is a really enjoyable romantic comedy. I enjoy it every time. The twists and turns of the story are entertaining. Ashton Kutcher and Amanda Peet are excellent and believable in the roles they play. The real star of this film is the soundtrack. Whoever put together this group of songs did an outstanding job. If you are into music the soundtrack is truly a first class collection of great songs that are timeless to me. I have listened to the soundtrack over and over and I never tire of it.I highly recommend this movie to anyone who wants to spend a great 2 hours with good friends and great tunes.
namashi_1 A well-done Romantic-Comedy is rare & I cherish it when I see a really good one. And 'A Lot Like Love' is exactly the kinda ROM-COM I cherish & entirely fall for. This is True Romance, depicted on celluloid, with simplicity.'A Lot Like Love' tells the story of Two Individuals (Ashton Kutcher & Amanda Peet), whose relationship slowly evolves from lust to friendship to romance over the course of seven years.'A Lot Like Love' is a strongly constructed love-story, thats filled with funny & amusing moments. Colin Patrick Lynch's Screenplay is a complete winner. From start to finish, you're invested in this near-decade long love-story, about Two Individuals. The Writing touches the core of your heart, without ever succumbing to melodrama. Nigel Cole's Direction is top-notch. Cinematography is eye-filling. Editing is quite crisp.Performance-Wise: Ashton Kutcher & Amanda Peet, underrated actors, both, make for a genuinely adorable on-screen couple. Kutcher is perfectly awkward, while Peet exudes honesty. They are infectious together & lead the show with their performances. Of the supporting cast, Kathryn Hahn & Kal Penn leave a strong impression. On the whole, 'A Lot Like Love' depicts romance in its truest form.
SnoopyStyle Emily Friehl (Amanda Peet) has sex with Oliver Martin (Ashton Kutcher) on a flight but refuses to fall for his awkward flirtations. He vows to be rich and successful in 6 years and they bet $50 on it. Three years later, her boyfriend breaks up with her right before New Year. She decides to call up Oliver. They have a charming time but he's moving to San Francisco. Two years later, he gets dumped and she runs into an old friend who is now dating her old boyfriend. They spend some more great time together but she has just met somebody else before and his internet diaper idea is on the verge of a breakthrough. One year later, his work is in the dumps and she's a celebrated photographer but she's engaged.Sure, this is a copy of other great rom-coms. That has never irked me especially for the rom-com genre which relies a lot on formulas. The fact that it follows some familiar paths is a plus. Amanda Peet is adorable and is able to bring out some of the charm of Kutcher. That's the real deciding factor. They're a fun couple with a touching on-and-off romance. I would probably rework the years idea. I would start with "Six years ago", then "Three years ago", then "One year ago", then "Today". It would make the years countdown like a clock in a thriller and the saddest moment is when the clock gets to zero.
