panorama92240 Pure garbage. Mocking Michael Moore is one thing but to make comedy out of suicide bombers, etc in 2008 was way too soon. In fact, it's still too soon. Jon Voight and Kelsey Grammer being in this turkey just proves it's politically motivated. I wasted 30 minutes of my life on this mess before I finally gave up and stopped it.
Claudio Carvalho On the July 4th, a group of children listens to the story of the documentary filmmaker Michael Malone (Kevin P. Farley) told by their grandfather (Leslie Nielsen) at a family barbecue. Michael wants to abolish the July 4th and does not celebrate the date and refuses to visit his family. Three clumsy Afghan terrorists consider that Michael Malone hates the United States of America and posing of producers, they invite him to make a feature with the intention of helping them to recruit new terrorists. During the night, Michael is visited by JFK that advises that he will be visited by three spirits. Soon General Patton, George Washington and the Angel of Death visit him trying to show him what would happen to the United States if pacifism prevails over war."An American Carol" is a parody of "A Christmas Carol" where a Michael Malone is a parody of Michael Moore in the role of the Scrooge. There are funny, but also moronic gags and after a promising beginning, the plot concludes with a terrible boastful nationalism that spoils the plot and the character. My vote is five.Title (Brazil): "Corra que Tem Loucos por Aí!" ("Run Since There Are Madmen Around")
cbl12 Offensive in some ways, and Historically unfair on Neville Chamberlain, whom I admired for not wanting war, considering the horror the Great War had been, but he is maligned unfairly by many Historians, yet JFK himself stuck up for him in his book. I will admit I am also not certain about some of the Historical claims made in this Film. But it is interesting these days that Hollywood would even bother trying to show a more Conservative point of view, which I think is about time, although I will admit it would have been better had it been in a more serious film. I am prepared to admit that not everything in Hollywood is made by Liberals, but it seems that a fair bit is. Only now are some people moaning about this when one finally gets a film that does not entirely slam Conservative values when no one cares about all the Liberal rubbish we have to sift through that comes out of Hollywood especially. As I admitted, this is not always the case, but if Hollywood does have a Liberal lean, which I know it does, it is their choice, but at least have the decency to admit it - which also goes for those Conservatives also who put their slant on things. To me, this film hit the nail right on the head. What, are Lefties upset about the apparent Right of Centre opinions in here, or even the fact that those who disagree with the Liberal Left should even have one ? Get over it. You may think you can brainwash everybody, but some of us like to think for ourselves. I am not an American, and I have admiration for the good things about both Your major Parties, and do not endorse one or the other, as my views are a bit of a mix. I agree with the idea of Universal Health Care, and if the Rich Right do not want that, then pay your workers a decent wage, and make sure there are jobs for everyone. On the other hand, I do believe in traditional Christian values, and will admit that a lot in this Movie was not Christian, but I do not believe in forcing Christianity on people - it is always meant to be a choice. It just seems that when we Conservatives are genuinely expressing our own ideas, you assume we are deluded, just because we disagree. If you can think for yourself and come to your beliefs that way, fine, but at least have the courtesy to extend that to others who may disagree - I do.
David Curtis (david0453) I saw this movie by chance on Danish TV last night. And I enjoyed it. It is from an openly conservative viewpoint, which I found refreshing, and the parody of Micheal Moore is quite good. It is also quite funny. It probably sets off all the 'politically correct' alarm bells - but I quite like that :) It has a similar structure to many other 'parody' movies and uses big (ish) names in cameo roles - so it is not ground breaking or new in that sense. What is new is that several actors were prepared to be in a movie that could have damaged their careers in some ways due to the political stance that is taken. However, I personally feel that far too many otherwise good movies are dominated by a 'politically correct' agenda.
