SnoopyStyle Kevin Smith has Q&A sessions in 2001 and 2002 with college students at Clark University, Cornell University, Indiana University, Kent State University and University of Wyoming. Jason Mewes joins him in Wyoming. Kevin discusses his films, his life, his other work and his various little media squabbles.Kevin has his humorous quips. The best are the inside Hollywood stories. He takes down producer Jon Peters over the Superman movie. There's his feud with Tim Burton and his dislike of Magnolia. Most of the Hollywood inside stories are mesmerizing like his story about Prince. I also like his Jason Mewes stories. There are lots of high fans and weed humor is a big part. He also gets very personal with one particular story about getting hurt having sex. This is almost 4 hours of really interesting stories and some fun conversations.
WakenPayne Hello Its Me Again I Present AN EVENING WITH KEVIN SMITH The Best Stand-Up Comedy I Have Seen Like Ones Like Ricky Gervais Doing It Is Not Funny & The Audience Asks Kevin Questions & He Answers With Funny Answers Like With The Faith Of Dogma That Some Guy Asked Him He Replied With A Funny Answer(& Here It Is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UDoIBgiUAQ) Yeah Its Also Funny With His Superman Reborn Story He Was Going To Do It With John Peters The Guy Who Did Another Film About A Year Later It Was Called "Wild Wild West" & Guest Appearance From Jason Mewes & He Talks About His Comic Book "Chasing Dogma" Which Is In Between Chasing Amy & Dogma. That Smith Is A Funny Guy. I Only Give It 9 Because Its A Little Boring When Your Watching Stuff Like That Prince Story & It Gets To The Stage Where Its Disgusting When He's Telling People About How He Met His Wife With His (CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED CENCORED CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED) & He Tells Them Thats His Worst Sexual Experience. Anyway If I Was In America Near The Places Where He Was Talking I'd Go & Ask "Are You Even Supposed To Be Here Today?" Then I'd Ask "Why No More Jay & Bob Movies?" But Anyway This Is Extremely Funny & Interesting Because You Find Out Stuff About The Legend Behind Jay & Silent Bob & The Comic Book Series Guardian Devil (Yeah I Admit It Thats My Favourite Daredevil Series) "Snooch To The Nooch" Rating: 9/10
Lucien Lessard Writer and Director:Kevin Smith is a talented filmmaker. Starting from his first film "Clerks" to "Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back". This "New Jersey" native has become a Icon towards the independent cinema. Which Smith is been asked intelligent or dumb questions towards five university's in the U.S. like Kent State, Clark, Wyoming, Cornell and Indiana. Smith does have a Special Guest in one of the university's visits his long-time friend/co-star:Jason Mewes. This amusing, extremely entertaining Q & A has some laugh-out moments. Which Smith talks about his spirituality, his sexuality, human relationships, his films, producer:Jon Peters, filmmaker:Tim Burton, how he met his future wife and meeting rock star:Prince. This two-disc set is almost 4 hours long, which the running time is 225 minutes. This is Q & A is long but never boring and always fun.DVD has an sharp anamorphic Widescreen (1.78:1) transfer and an good-Dolby 2.0 Surround Sound. This DVD has trailers and hidden features, which is deleted segments from his Q & A visits at the university's. Die Hard fans of this filmmaker might enjoy this one much more, while others might take a look. When Smith talks about he originally re-wrote the script for "Superman Reborn" (Which is due for 2006) is one of the highlights of this Q & A. (****/*****).
arickrol `An Evening With Kevin Smith' is the latest of director Kevin Smith's works. Smith is a renowned Indie filmmaker and New Jersey native made famous by his independent film, `Clerks.' Smith speaks out at several college campuses in a Question and Answer format on many topics of interest to college students from his five films and religion, to sex and sexual preference.Covering two discs and almost four hours, `Evening' will have even non-fans of Smith rolling on the floor with laughter. It is a nonstop express train to comedy-ville that actually delivers what it promises. Smith's frankness and humor allows him to touch on the touchy subjects of religion, sex, and sexual preference without being overly offensive.Being a fan of Smith and his work I immediately purchased this DVD as soon as possible. However, that sounds easier than the actual process since I had to find a store that heard of it and also had it in stock. In the end I found it in the Special Interest section at Best Buy for $22.99, a bargain as most double discs run at a higher price than that.True fans who have seen all of his films will enjoy `Evening' more than the average viewer and will not be offended by the plethora of `dick and fart jokes' that Smith's comedy is normally based on. Fan will be depressed near the end of the second disc when they reach scene #39 where Smith discusses the future of Jay and Silent Bob.The tomfoolery of such films as `Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back' continues and even goes up a notch with the inclusion of actor Jason Mewes and producer Scott Mosier (via telephone) and of the student audience. Smith takes the time to make several phone calls on student's behalf and even attempts to get a student their job back after losing it in order to attend the performance.Despite all the positives going for `Evening' it is not for everyone. People who are easily offended, don't enjoy `dick and fart jokes' or disliked Smith's films will want to avoid this DVD at all costs. For the rest of us, the DVD is a great addition to our personal film collections and is a must have for any Smith fan. The DVD has some superb editing; features bonus trailers, is subtitled in English, French, and Spanish, and is in wide screen format. I highly recommend this and can't wait for the release of Smith's next film, `Jersey Girl'.
