SnoopyStyle Following Matthew's death, Anne Shirley (Megan Follows) has remained at Green Gables to look after aging Marilla. She's teaching young kids and writing stories. Diana Barry is marrying Fred Wright which Anne disapproves at first. Anne rejects Gilbert Blythe's marriage proposal and then again. With Marilla's blessing, she takes a teaching job at a ladies' college in Kingsport, Nova Scotia and struggles to earn everyone's respect. The snobbish ruling Pringle family do not support her appointment. Jen Pringle is the mean girl of the class. Catherine Brooke is the strict spinster teacher. Anne befriends the sweet student Emmeline Harris and her family.Anne Shirley's life keeps moving on. The sequel misses the presence of Richard Farnsworth and Colleen Dewhurst has a reduced role. Quite frankly, Anne leaves everybody and everything behind for a long stretch. The story feels a bit different as Anne becomes the teacher. Megan Follows is able to maintain the character and there are a couple of compelling girls in the class. It doesn't have quite the same charm away from Green Gables but it's a nice detour.
Maddyclassicfilms The sequel shows Anne Shirley(Megan Follows) as a young woman who is working at her local school on Prince Edward Island and helping her friend Diana(Schuyler Grant)prepare for her upcoming wedding. Anne is struggling with her feelings for close friend Gilbert Blythe(Jonathan Crombie).Anne meets a wealthy man who is staying at a local summer house called Captain Morgan Harris(Frank Converse)however the two don't really get to know each other until Anne moves to take up teaching at a private Girls School somewhere else in the country and finds that he is the father of one of her students.Anne's friendship with the Captain enables him to change from a slightly reserved and strict man, to one who enjoys life and is a much more open man. This is just as good as Anne of Green Gables and all the cast return. Also featuring Dame Wendy Hiller as Morgan's prickly mother Mrs Harris and Colleen Dewhurst returning as Marilla Cuthbert enchanting and uplifting this is well worth watching.
ctando I am a fan of the AoGG novels and found this work to be pretty passable. The screenwriters didn't strain themselves trying to follow the books but stayed true to their spirit. Several of the characters did not exist at all, many are a blend of two or more characters. I guess I must like it since I own it:0). It's worth a watch.
Shannon Although the makers of this movie crammed 3 of L.M. Montgomery's novels into one television movie, it is still a delight to watch. The actors from the previous movie still shine on, especially the ones that played Anne and Gilbert. My favorite part of this movie will always be the ending scene when Anne finally falls in love with Gilbert.Watch it by yourself, with a friend, or with the family.
