Kingslaay I quite enjoyed Bewitched. I was familiar with the TV show of the 60s and believe Elizabeth Montgomery made the role her own. However Nicole Kidman wasn't too bad and even mastered the iconic nose twitch for the role. The story was quite interesting, believable to an extent and entertaining. Will Ferrell also did a great job as her co- star. As far as remakes go this was pretty well done and had some decent performances. I do not feel it deserves such a low rating as I too was a fan of the classic TV show and can appreciate this film. I won't be surprised if people listened to 'critics' and made up their minds not to like it. However every person who fancies him or herself as a reasonable film critic should consider the canon law. Thou must not judge a film on its reviews but on its merit and worth.
Mr Black I finally got this movie on DVD because,, well it was for sale. I like Will Ferrel and Nora Ephron, so i figured I'd give it a shot. This had a lot of potential, but wow,, a witch, who is accidentally cast as a witch in a TV show? Yikes! There was a great cast involved and could have been a real hoot but the premise of the whole movie is just off the mark. Why didn't they just do a movie based on the original idea? A witch who marries a mortal and he has to deal with all her wacky relatives. Could have been hilarious. Oh well, it is what it is. I watched it once and it shall now be relegated to the pile. The individual performances were okay though, just the story really really does not work. Thanks for reading!
SnoopyStyle Isabel Bigelow (Nicole Kidman) leaves her daddy (Michael Caine) and the witchcraft world to live the normal life in the San Fernando Valley. She vows to stop using magic but can't seem to stop. Jack Wyatt (Will Ferrell) is a Hollywood actor trying to get back on track after a bad flop. Ritchie (Jason Schwartzman) is his agent. Their latest project is a TV remake of Bewitched. Jack runs into Isabel and gets her the role as the next Elizabeth Montgomery. There are several things wrong with this Nora Ephron film. The basic DNA is wrong. Will Ferrell has always been a lovable goof. He doesn't fit this self-obsessed Hollywood type character. Nicole Kidman is playing the character too naively. She's almost a moron and really offputting. The idea of a Hollywood TV remake could work. The problem here is that the characters are so wrong that this movie never had a chance.
Jessica Pollock (royal-rainbow) I made this account just to give this film a perfect rating. I was confused to see that it was universally panned at the age of 11, and after watching it again, I am equally confused today. I'm not fRICKIN JOKING, EVERYTHING ABOUT IT IS PERFECT, the wardrobe, sets and cast are like A+++ and I laughed so hard tbh, Nicole Kidman is so cute in this role nd her American accent is so good. It made me wanna be a witch so bad, and the cast was perf, espesh Steve Carrell whose Uncle Arthur voice slayed my entire life. The CGI was weirdly good for 2005, AND THE SOUNDTRACK WAS SUCH A KILLER. Hello, Talking Heads, the Who, even the Police in the end credits. Why do you all hate this movie why are you doing this to me, please rewatch Bewitched and evaluate your lives.
