O2D I had to watch this twice and I'm still not really sure about. The second time, I saw a newer version that starts off by explaining that parts two and three sucked and this is the true sequel. While that helps a little bit, it raises as many questions as it answers. The movie starts off great.Lots of great comedy and action and lots of cameos, including the Sklar brothers as the local news team. They are by far the best part of all four movies.Even though it starts off strong, it doesn't make any sense.Toxie has a fat sidekick and we're supposed to just act like he was always there? His girlfriend is blind again too.I guess that's why they added the extra part at the beginning but if you saw the original version you would never understand what was going on.You should also watch Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD first. He's in this movie and you are just supposed to already know all about him.All that negative stuff aside, it's not really that bad.If this had been the only Toxic Avenger movie, it would have been a classic. Most people who like to watch movies in order will never even get this far, there's too much trash to wade through.
kirk-246 The first Toxic Avenger movie is still one of my favorite superhero action-comedies.I've seen some of parts 2 and 3 and didn't think they were great.I guess that I have to watch them both in order to decide if I like them or not.'Toxic Avenger IV:Citizen Toxie'is the best movie in the series. It has gore, action,a good plot, and plenty of laughs. It's also the most explicit movie in the series. The behavior by some of the characters is more crude and more inappropriate than the behavior of the previous movies. So if you have kids, then I suggest you put them in their rooms and watch this movie by yourself.Or you can watch it with friends, which is more fun than watching it by yourself.I just have one question:Will there ever be a fifth movie?
Tromafreak Holy Christmas!! what did we do to deserve this? Personally, I had given up on a watchable sequel to The Toxic Avenger, what a pleasant surprise, It makes me giddy just thinking about it. Citizen Toxie was exactly what should happen, post Terror Firmer. After the ultimate Troma experience, this was really the most logical, next step, considering Terror Firmer was about the making of a new Toxic Avenger sequel. Well, this is it...Our long-awaited (real) sequel begins with the most hilarious, most outrageous, first 30 minutes in cinema history. Upon his triumphant return, Melvin "Toxie" Ferd wipes out the diaper mafia, accidentally gets a bunch of retarded ( very special) children shot, impregnates his wife, and unknowingly falls into an alternate dimension. Not a bad warm up. It really feels like the movie has barely started. With an alternate dimension, of course, comes an alternate Toxie. Meet the Noxious Offender, sadistic, killer, crack dealer, just a flat out heel...oh yeah, did I mention, he's now in Toxie's dimension, and he's about to kill virtually, everyone in Tromaville? With most everyone now dead, and a new breed of super hero's trying to make sense of things, Tromaville, along with Toxie's wife, Sarah, belongs to The Noxious Offender. Meanwhile, in Amortville, Toxie, and his retarded (very special), new friends, are awfully concerned, they can't find their houses, there's crime everywhere, come to think of it, this is a cesspool of filth, I don't think were in Tromaville anymore. What follows is the absolute, wildest, most out of hand, unpredictable day in the history of Tromaville...I mean Amortville.Citizen Toxie is an unexpected, offensive, fast-paced, bat out of hell, but, of course, still has "that Kaufman silliness". We even got our favorites, Lemmy, Debbie, Fleishaker, even our pal, Ron Jeremy pays us a visit. A decent B-movie, not to mention, a masterpiece of a B-movie is quite refreshing, in our current decade. Too bad John Waters doesn't have Lloyd's attitude, and stop making quirky, pseudo-taboo, upbeat, comedies, like Pecker, and do what he's on this planet to do, but that's another story for another day. Citizen Toxie, unlike the first two sequels, stays true to the original, but with the same hard hitting, mean-spirited attitude of Tromeo & Juliet, and Terror Firmer. Our hero, Lloyd Kaufman gives his fans exactly what they crave, more than anyone else. If Toxie 2 and 3 depress you, and if Kaufman's most recent work excites you, and if you love the monster hero, then, Citizen Toxie will leave you in a teary-eyed stupor. Now, that's more like it!! 10/10
Paul Andrews Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV starts as a gang of terrorists known as the Diaper Mafia led by Tex Diaper (co-writer Trent Haaga) storm the Tromaville school for the very special & hold a class of very special kids & they're teacher hostage. The Toxic Avenger (David Mattey) & his sidekick Lardass (Joe Fleishaker) are on the case, they confront the gang in an attempt to rescue the kids but discover Tex has rigged a bomb to explode. Which it does. The resulting explosion opens an interdimensional hole in which the Toxic Avenger is transported to Tromadu, an exact opposite of Tromaville while his evil opposite from Tromadu known as the Noxic Offender ends up in Tromaville. Still with me? Good. The Noxic Avenger starts to systematically slaughter the residents of Tromaville & cause mayhem the Toxic Avenger finds himself in a place where he is considered evil, he must find a way back to his beloved Tromaville & stop the Noxic Avenger & his reign of evil...Co-written, co-produced & directed by Lloyd Kaufman this is the fourth, & to date the last, Toxic Avenger film & is a huge improvement on the first two sequels especially Part III. The script by Kaufman, Patrick Cassidy, Gabriel Friedman & Trent Haaga feels much more like the original film with a decent & at times amusing blend of gross out humour & outrageous gore that has something to offend most. From poking fun at retards in a scene when the Diaper Mafia burst into their class with machine guns & their teacher says duck to which they all start quacking & flapping their arms! The collection of lame superheros like Dolphin man & Master-Bator who can shoot massive amounts of white sticky liquid from his crotch area! There's plenty of the usual childish juvenile Troma bad taste humour with lots of fart gags, making fun of people with disability, toilet humour, male prostitutes & large mutant penis monsters who try to rape Toxie up the rear, there's something here for everyone & I thought the way everyone referred to the retards as 'special' was funny. The gore & violence are also back in this entry, everything is turned up to the max & there's a real energy running through this one almost as if the filmmakers actually cared about the finished product, not something I could say with regard to that many Troma films. The story is fun, it moves along like a rocket & is a pretty entertaining & funny film if you have a slightly twisted sense of humour. All that rubbishy narration is gone as well & the film has proper dialogue.Director Kaufman surely hasn't made a better film? This one is actually quite competent with reasonable special effects, a nice sense of fun. Another Troma character Sgt. Kabukiman makes an appearance while the Toxic Avenger himself looks different this time around with a much better make-up job. The gore is back big time, there are numerous crushed heads including an old lady having her head run over, people have there intestines ripped out, someone has their arms ripped off, someone has a stake shoved through their throat, there's loads of blood as dozens of people are killed, limbs are severed, tongues & eyes are pulled out, people are gunned down & Mad Cowboy gets put through a meat mincing machine with blood spurting results plus a whole load more as well. There's plenty of nudity as well with enough lesbianism & sex to satisfy.Technically the film is alright, when compared to a multi million dollar Hollywood production than it's not going to hold up that well but for a Troma film this is Oscar worthy stuff. The acting was OK, again considering this is Troma.Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV is much better than the usual Troma film & is a fairly decent watch on it's own, maybe not quite as good as the original but it's up there, definitely worth a watch for those with a questionable sense of humour & those with the stomach. The other Toxic Avenger films are The Toxic Avenger (1985), The Toxic Avenger, Part II (1989) & the truly terrible The Toxic Avenger Part III: The Last Temptation of Toxie (1989).
