Derek Bellas While I don't feel like Cooler's Revenge is quite as good as Broly The Legendary Super Saiyan, this movie had just the same effect. Cooler's revenge does a great job of doing a mini-saga with a new villain, full with character development, motivations, and a good ending. Many people in the DBZ fandom see Cooler as a great villain, and while I don't like him as much as some of the main villains, he is good enough to warrant his own movie. This movie also confirmed the joke that Frieza's clan is all named after cold things; Frieza, Cooler, King Cold, etc....Really...?
Eric Stevenson I think this is probably my favorite of the "Dragonball Z" movies before the new longer ones came out. It's mostly because I really do enjoy the notion of Freiza's brother appearing. I admit that it doesn't make much sense, because it would cause you to ask why Cooler doesn't want to avenge his father, King Kold. He obviously has more respect towards him than his brother. You could argue that he didn't find out about Freiza being killed by Future Trunks later, but he should have at least known that. This is good probably because of the film's beginning.I just find it interesting where they set up the mythology of the series. Cooler is great as a villain and I really do like his final form. His voice is very nice and deep and he truly comes off as intimidating here. It's great to see Piccolo do a lot of damage to Cooler's henchman. By giving Cooler minions, it sets him up as a bigger villain. I can see why this guy had another movie based on him. The action is nice and epic and has most of what made the classic show so great. ***
gigan-92 One of my all-time favorite DBZ films, telling the tale of Cooler, Frieze's older brother. Apparently he gets news of his sibling's demise at the hands of all people a Saiyan and he sets out to avenge him. I enjoy the humor very much and this must be the final film to feature Gohan's pet dragon, Icarus. Gotta love that cute little thing (lol). Sean Schemmel voices Son Goku while Andrew Chandler is Cooler, fine performances. The transformations in this movie are incredibly sick, like Cooler reaching his fourth form and this film also features the debut of Super Saiyan Goku. That scene alone is my favorite among the whole film, the music blending perfectly. In fact, there's goes another reason to love this addition: the hard-core rock serving as its score. Featuring songs by Drowning Pool, Breaking Point, and American Pearl, among others. My favorite songs would most likely be "Change" by Deftones and "Revelation" by American Pearl. The action is non-stop and it amazes me how the tide of the battle switches around so much. First Goku's anger seems to give Cooler trouble, who can barely counter his moves. Whether he is in fact taking it seriously or not, good old Goku appears to be in control of the battle. But then Cooler transforms and begins to tear our hero apart with considerable ease. It can be assumed Goku was using the 20X Kaioken, seeing as that's how far he'd advanced up to that point in season three (Episode 92), and yet Cooler flies straight through his Kamehame-Ha beam as if it were a mist. Even Frieza struggled to hold this attack back, leaving his hand burned. But then it appears Goku's Super Saiyan power level has risen since Namek because he defeats Cooler in three blows. In fact, Cooler can't even keep up with his movements at all.Just something inquisitive fans might ponder. Oh yeah, Piccolo is a bad-ass in the movie!! That's the thing that annoys me about the last two films. Yes, the saiyans are the sh*t but you can't leave out principle characters!!
AnthonyRS1983 This is the fifth Dragon Ball Z movie to be released during the series' Japanese TV run. When Cooler finds out that his brother Frieza was defeated by a Saiyan, he and his three henchmen go to Earth to seek revenge and destroy the planet as Piccolo, Gohan, and Krillin attempt to help an injured Goku get his strength back and defend the Earth. This movie was an improvement over the lasr DBZ movie as the plot centered around a villain closely related to a major villain in the DBZ TV series. This DBZ movie attempts to try some new things, such as putting more of a focus on Piccolo, Krillin, and Gohan in the battles and spicing the battle sequences with samurai-film-like elements. As DBZ fans will enjoy the battles and the villain, this DBZ movie's plot suffers from being a bit shallow as it only focuses on the villain's plan to destroy Earth. Also, DBZ fans may be a bit disappointed by the movie's short running time of 47 minutes.GRADE: 2.5 out of 5
