politehere Despite the fact that the dialogue in the flashback scenes at the beginning of the movie was important to fully understand what was going on, it was confusing and hard to keep in mind. while I didn't see the surprise twist at the end coming, it failed to really shock me, because I had to watch this movie twice to fully understand the story by which time the intended effect had been lost. My advice for you is to try and remember the lines in flashbacks, especially the one in the beginning and one in the middle so that you can connect them with the lines in the final scene. This movie kept me at the edge of my seat, but it had potential to be way more thrilling than its current version. The stupidity of the husband at certain points was annoying; when you have a chance to finish off the killer, but you just stand there and do nothing. It probably was not out of place here, because it could be argued that it was used to emphasize his cowardice, which is a point brought up in the movie. The CGI used in the movie was not very good, but it wasn't terrible either. Had they spent a little bit more budget and lengthened the movie, it could've turned into one of the best horror movies ever, because even its current version was head and shoulders above most horror movies I get to see and as a horror movie fan, I do watch lots of horror movies. The acting was good and the movie looked like one with high production values. So while the movie had room for improvement, I'm going to give it an 8/10 and strongly recommend this title to horror movie fans, who do not shy away from watching torture scenes. They were few but very effective and truly disturbing.
atinder After seeing the trailer for this movie, I was afraid they showed way to much of the movie. Here another movie were We follow a young couple as they leave their everyday lives behind and head out to a new beginning; starting over from scratch and while Driver , Chad who ends up falling a sleep at the wheel, Crash the car. We get flash back of happened in before they decided to movie way, it felt really strange for them for keeping going back wards now and again, it got really annoying at the times and Felt of place. Soon there see house they go there, These to couple who are at the house seem very friends (TOO Friendly, Which I thought would have creepy for stranger to say those thing then sooner then later thing that nasty turn. These couple soon turn nasty and keep the other hostage for some part of the movie, these Torture scenes were really that good or that nasty however There one scenes I found did find A bit nasty , Let just I won't use Cheese crater today for sure. Then they go over the board with over done twist , which I been done so many times now, It's getting boring now, I make the pass hour Point-less and a waste of time. The ending really ruined the movie , I kind of felt a little cheated. however I did not get board with this movie, it get entertained thought out the movie, the acting was really good from the short cast in this movie. 5 out of 10
mdnobles19 This definitely takes torture films to a whole new level with it's brutality and very dark subject matter with a twist that will shock you to the core. I thought the performances were all pretty good but sometimes fell flat but nothing distracting and is very graphic and twisted in some scenes that is definitely not for the squeamish. There was dread throughout the moment it started and it will have you guessing how it's going to end and you will probably be wrong because it's devastating and horrific. The production values are pretty basic lifetime movie of the week material but that doesn't make it lose its effectiveness and being downright disturbing and dark, very dark. Overall this is a pretty solid thriller about a couple that tries to start a new life after the death of their child but wound up fighting for their lives and I recommend this slow trip to hell for the twist alone.
movieman_kev Scarlet (Jamie Anne Allman, known mostly for her short, but very memorable, stint as a prostitute on "the Shield") and her husband, Chad decide to stay at the farmhouse owned by Sam (Wings funny-man Steven Weber) and Lilith (Sunset Beach's Kelly Hu) for the night after they have some car trouble while moving to Washington state in order to start anew after the death of their only child. But quite obviously the intentions of the farmhouse couple are slightly less that altruistic.Writer Daniel Coughlin once again teams up with director George Bessudo with only slightly better to show for it than their first film "Lake Dead" (that's solely due to the fact that whereas that film was utterly abysmal, this one is merely sub-par with an ending that sinks it). Jamie Anne Allman can and indeed has done miles above the acting she does here, the guy who plays Chad is atrocious and the other two fare no better. The ending just about ruins the film, not that it was spectacular before that. And I just look back on the movie as time that I could have spent more wisely by doing.....anything else.My Grade: DDVD Extras: a 10 minute Behind-the-scenes featurette is the one and only extra
