huggibear To have Charles Schultz' peanuts cartoons in present day animation would be awesome because the animations have gotten so good in the present day filming industry. A girl can dream of 'present day animation remakes of all the Peanuts cartoons'. Then we can all all Dr. Seuss' in the same manner. Are there any others we can remake? I wouldn't doubt that we could remake all cartoons in present day animation techniques. Keep the same stories though because that's timeless pieces of these cartoons. What about Tom & Jerry, Scooby Doo, Winnie the Pooh, oh so many to remake in present day animation, huh? I have never reviewed this before, so It's about time I did. I could watch this every year at Halloween. Solid high score of 8 Stars from me!! Come on back Charles Schultz, please? The piano tunes are so token peanuts and very recognizable and memorable! I'm fifty decades old and I still love it.
thejcowboy22 One of the first specials I watched in Color at my Cousin Rose's house in New Jersey. Charlie Brown just wants to fit in with the Peanuts gang as he prepares his Ghost Costume complete with plenty of holes. Lucy wants to win at the apple dunking contest but Snoopy splits the winnings with her. Linus sways impressionable Sally Brown to the Pumpkin Patch to wait up for the GREAT PUMPKIN to appear in all his glory giving presents and goody to all. This marks the last episode of the peanuts character Violet who is a dead ringer for Lucy except Violet has her hair in a bun. Charlie Brown's night of Trick or treating is a bust as he collects a bag full of rocks instead of candy. Linus doesn't fair any better as the night wains on with no Great Pumpkin in sight as a livid Sally gives him the business. Just as close to real life as it gets. That's why these cartoons are so connected to the average child's taste where as situations happen beyond your own control. Sometimes the best laid plans don't always work out but we take these set backs as life lessons to learn from as did creator Charles M. Shulz did growing up in Minnesota with a mixture of all those Peanuts characters bottled up inside him. I tend to find a bond with these holiday programs cause there's a little Charlie Brown and Linus in all of us as well. With failure there's hope and maybe next Halloween The Great Pumpkin will show up?
Andy B I adore this classic American animation. The Peanuts characters have deservedly found fame well beyond American shores, indeed they are legendary, and this animation is, to my mind, the very best. Who could fail to be touched by Linus's faith as he waits in the pumpkin patch? What a character he is - sensitive, kind, wise beyond his years, long suffering (Lucy sees to that!), blanket hugging... and a believer in the Great Pumpkin.Charlie Brown's experiences of trick or treating (how bitter sweet childhood is!), Snoopy's fantasy life, Sally's devotion to Linus, the wonderful 'Lucy and Linus' theme, all add up to a tremendous show - every bit as excellent as the famous comic strip. Highly recommended.
SnoopyStyle Halloween is approaching and Linus is convinced that the Great Pumpkin is coming. His sister Lucy is infuriated with him. Even Charlie Brown doesn't believe him. Snoopy laughs at him. Charlie Brown's sister Sally adores Linus and willingly waits with him at the pumpkin patch instead of going on her first trick-or-treating. Charlie Brown is excited to be invited to a party for the first time in his life. Everybody is going to Violet's party after trick-or-treating. Snoopy is his imaginary WWI flying ace alter-ego. Sally's rant at the end is both adorable and hilarious. This is such a sweet Charlie Brown special. It's missing the big compelling message of the Christmas special. Nevertheless, this is just a fun charming Halloween tradition.
