Fluke_Skywalker Plot; Four men are accidentally bonded with pieces from a hi-tech alien suit of armor and find themselves Earth's only hope against a threat from outer space.Crowdfunded sci-fi slacker comedy is amiable enough, but despite game (if not exactly good) performances and commendable production values for its budget, most of the gags and jokes fall flatter than a 13th century globe. It rallies a bit in the third act, but it's not enough to lift it above mediocre. If you liked the Adam Sandler movie Pixels from a few years ago, you may like Lazer Team as well. Just less.
choppinbroccoli-10939 I wanted to like this movie, but i could just not sit through this movie. It's barely over an hour and a half, but it feels twice as long as that. Whether you like Roosterteeth or not, there's no denying that this movie has extremely unlikeable characters, isn't funny, and everything about this movie is super cliché and boring. The acting ranges from decent to really bad, and this goes for the effects as well, but it is on a limited budget, so that doesn't bother me.What does bother me, is that the only likable character is the champion, but he's represented as the antagonistic ass hole who just wants the suit for himself, even though he's the only character you can sympathize with, and the other characters are complete douchy idiots. To be fair, this movie had a few, kind of funny parts, but that doesn't compare to all the super lame jokes. (Yes, I said 'super lame' in a review, who do you want? Roger Ebert?)This movie was annoying, dumb, unfunny, and it was just not enjoyable at all.
zif ofoz The best laid plans are bound to go wrong. Here in 'Lazer Team' our four man team of misfits, just out to have fun, unknowingly disrupt a decades long secret government operation. And once this is discovered by them the team must work together to live or else die alone. So they find themselves battling two two enemies - 1. An alien from out-of-space and 2. the federal government! And in getting that team spirit cooking between them is a story of hair-brained situations that are just stupid enough to get you laughing and enjoying the nonsense in this sci-fi comedy. You'll cheer them on because they may be dummies in life but together they are awesome! An easy lite comedy with fast action and good graphics. I loved it!
Prabhat_KS_1729 Space, including all its paraphernalia, is one arena which has acted as substrate for film of all genres. You name it, space gave it! Even art-house and horror films have been made out of celestial subjects. For example, think of Melancholia (2011), Sunshine (2007) or Under the Skin (2013). To be honest, I'm waiting for a Quentin Tarantino film on space - bloodshed having a field day in space! No matter whatever you'll make having space or aliens, people will see it. In fact 'Plan 9 from Outer Space' (1959) was so badly made that it became memorable! So among its beginning ventures, YouTube Red chose the path of least resistance - space. In 'Lazer Team' a group of four misfits find themselves responsible for the fate of the planet upon discovering an alien crash site containing a battle suit. I must admit that the idea is novel and exciting. The script is decently knit too. (This is the main reason why I reviewed this title.) A somewhat similar concept was tried last year (2015) in 'Absolutely Anything' starring Simon Pegg but that fizzled out too. With a little more effort 'Lazer Team' could have been transformed into a great sci-fi comedy. The subject matter is age-neutral - people of all age groups could've enjoyed it. But the film-makers instead settled for clichéd acts. For example, the character of Mindy (played by Allie DeBerry) was too bawdy. It was like some American Pie or Scary Movie character. Similarly the humour could have been more situational rather than explicit. More experienced actors could have been casted et cetra, et cetra. But, the damage has been done. 'Lazer Team' is another hit-and-run comedy which fails to leave its mark.
