rosevearlyn-47463 I NEVER MISSED ONE OF HER SHOWS I WANT TO BUY SOME OF HER CARDIGANS
daveintimor Australian review. Began with two glasses of wine, a love of The Castle and an open mind. I have very much enjoyed the series and the humour and it may have been difficult to put the short, slapstick antics into a longer movie. Indeed, how do you parody a small television studio set... but the crew manage to do it. The movie has come in for mediocre reviews and I respect other views but having just watched the film I thoroughly enjoyed it, not because it is a Shakespearean masterpiece to stand for all time but rather as another enjoyable story about Agnes and the extended Brown family. To people who enjoy Mrs Brown's Boys and may have gotten a laugh out of the iconic Australian movie 'The Castle' or similar comedic efforts I would thoroughly recommend Mrs Brown's Boys D'Movie. As well as the wonderful cast, I particularly enjoyed the music throughout.
Andrew Fletcher I'll be honest when I say that I've never been a massive fan of Mrs Brown's Boys. That includes the television series & live shows, but that did not determine my rating for the film adaptation. I do respect and appreciate why people would enjoy the series though, it simply isn't my type of humour.Saying that, as a film fan, I feel insulted when people decide to cash-in on a successful formula to bring something to the big screen. Fans of the show would obviously attend a viewing, but the film adaptation is everything that the series isn't. The two couldn't be further apart on the spectrum from one another. The film has very little structure and constantly jumps from one scene to the next. The writing seems rather lacklustre and there are more awkward silences than laugh-out-loud moments. It's clear that the writers have attempted to create a storyline structure to accommodate the demands of a feature length film, but it unfortunately hasn't worked in my opinion. At 70 minutes, the entire feature seems rushed and forced. Horrible gag after horrible gag, it falls short of the expectations of its fans. I'm not one of those individuals, like I've stated, but if you haven't had the opportunity to watch this but want too, please, for your own sake and sanity, don't.
FlashCallahan So the titular character owes €3.8 million in taxes, and has to pay it or her livelihood will be taken away. That's the story. Other sub lots involve the Russian Mafia, Racism. Blind Ninjas, Sexism, breaking the fourth wall on several occasions, and then pretending to do an outtake halfway through the film, because hey, a lot of the people who watch this abomination on TV wouldn't know what good comedy was even if they were visited by The Spanish Inquisition....And truth be told, its terrible, from beginning to end, its cringeworthy stuff, and as soon as the titular character turns over and broke wind at the beginning, just confirmed the shameful, lazy writing that this thing has.The breaking of the fourth wall is awful, but the worse thing that this film has, are the silly out takes that we get 'treated to' in the second act, its clear that they are staged. All in all, yes, it's made a shedload of money, but that doesn't mean that many people liked it.Come the end of the film, I saw Keith Duffy, and realised I wasn't actually watching the film, I was just looking at the screen, bored senseless.Do not treat your 'mammy' to this, this Christmas, as all the advertising will no doubt say.A poisonous cash in, stopping people seeing something decent at the cinema.
