cspear20 This movie brings back so many childhood memories with the awesome music, skating contest and clothes. I love the Father/Son relationship in this movie so much. Their heartfelt talk touches my heart every time I hear it- its a great family movie, lots of fun throughout the film. The actors/actresses are outstanding. This is a classic that never gets old in my home. Sweetness is a very handsome young man, his character reminds me of the king of our old rink in Cali world on wheels. It will make you want to get up and dance/ skate its an awesome feel good movie, any movie that has Megan and Jurnee together is a winning combination. They are solid separately but its always fabulous to watch them together. These 2 ladies have a timeless/ageless beauty and the big screen loves them- talent overflows in this film. Love it
Jasey DePriest I grew up at the end of the 4-wheel skate days, but did spend enough time at the rink to smile a few times and nod at memories. The soundtrack is fantastic. I haven't tried to track down an official soundtrack (not sure how many of the songs from the movie made it). The acting was surprisingly good. I didn't expect much out of Bow Wow. I guess it helps that the lines they were delivering were straight out of real life. The cut downs, the psyche outs, all of it, true, true, true. I even like the fact that the ending, which I will not elaborate on, is more realistic than you would expect. For a film that was practically straight formula, I was very surprised at how much fun I had watching it.
TheGOLDENWALRUS I have to take my time and talk about this film. I mean come on Bow-wow or whatever his name is and Nick Cannon in the same film? Two wrongs don't equal a right and this film explains why.I swear that I tried to force a laugh throughout this movie but I couldn't get past Nick Cannon's amazingly stupid character that made me so angry on how he could not make me laugh. To make this film the worst of all time we would need Uwe Boll or Ulli Lommell to direct this.I'm not saying all of you will hate this movie. Obviously it's not on the top 150 worst films list but it's a movie I would recommend skipping. This and Underclassmen. Nick Cannon needs to go away! HE IS NOT FUNNY!
lone_jafa Great movie! Probably because I was not expecting it to be so CLEAN. Black movies have a tendency to slide into reality and over-reality very quickly. This movie was so much fun! From the first rink that reminded me of the dodgy places I use to skate back in the day in New Zealand to the Vegas rink that was up town. The lights, the feel and the vibes made it very entertaining. Sure it was cliché but at least the soundtrack was awesome. Nowadays it's gangs, drugs and guns. I am sure some of us always look back on the good old days with rose tinted glasses and this movie is a testimony to that. Great escapism! When the father comes home and catches the boys slacking off - that was a trip down memory lane...Great Music! Great nostalgia! Everybody needs a little light under the sun!!!
