Scarecrow-88 Another sex comedy parodying the low budget movie business(..in the same vein as Fred Olen Ray's BAD GIRLS OF MARS)features Stuart Benton as a struggling writer, Lou Lurrod, given a chance to earn lousy pay for an impossibly contemptible producer, King Faraday(Robert Quarry, who mentioned in the audio commentary that his source for such a miserable barking grouch was an exaggerated version of Sam Arkoff)commissioned to draft a quick script in 48 hours. The script will be for an ultra-cheap(..the only way Faraday makes them)werewolf movie and Faraday demands nothing more than minor plot to accompany the required nudity and violence. Delia Sheppard stars as Candy, Faraday's big-breasted adulterous wife(..seen throughout in tight pink dresses clinging to her curvy figure)who plots to murder him, attempting to goad Lou into it. Linnea Quigley(..as adorable as ever)is a low budget screen queen(..I know, quite a stretch)working on a series of movies for Faraday who becomes Lou's only real ally, soon helping him in a very difficult situation. You see Candy gets her wish, because Lou reacts obviously less than pleased when Faraday abuses him for the script..refusing to pay him, Lou informs Faraday of his affair with Candy, the result being that King has a heart attack. Lou takes over the reins of the movie production, after he and Candy hid King's body, and soon Faraday's Chicago investors come to Hollywood demanding to see their partner. Veronica Hart is Faraday's 30-ish daughter who soon makes life miserable for money-grubbing mama-in-law Candy. Lou and Phoebe(Quigley)soon join forces to dispose of Faraday and, at the same time, appease the mobsters King was involved with.As I mentioned, this is nothing more than a playful, engaging comedy, a loving jab at the low-budget horror industry with spunky, colorful performances. I especially enjoyed the silly homage to 80's werewolf films like "The Howling"(..the gag with the air bladders had me in ribbons)and "American Werewolf in London". Towards the end of the 80's, this was one of those films that took gleeful swipes at the nearly dead slasher craze. By all rights, this is Quarry's show as the producer from hell, constantly shouting and verbally assaulting his entire staff of employees. Quigley is quite appealing/appetizing as the female actress who lends poor Lou a helping hand when he needs it the most. Sheppard has the big role in the movie as Lou's demanding lover insisting that he foster to her needs and desires, soon quite a thorn in his side when trouble begins to mount in regards to the dead husband. Dennis Dale is Rake Webber, a director who seems oblivious to the fact that he's making crap pictures for a horrible company, always at odds with Faraday, wishing to make better films than allowed to. This film features Quarry as you've never seen him..his producer is a ferocious blowhard with nothing but criticism for all those around him. I always found it funny how others seems to shrink in dignity as Faraday attacked them. Quigley and Sheppard both show their breasts in the film, and seem to understand the kind of movie they're in. Not to be taken seriously at all, SEXBOMB is completely tongue-in-cheek. SEXBOMB provides the viewer with an inside look into the movie-making industry, it's pratfalls and difficulties in regards to getting a film finished facing rather insermountable obstacles. Faraday's cheap wallet could be a little jab at Roger Corman.
lastliberal Well, we don't need Tropic Thunder to parody Hollywood when we have this movie that spoof low budget B-movies. Linnea Quigley, or just plain Linnea, as she is now billed, stars as a scream queen under contract to Faraday Pictures for "six films or six week, whichever comes first." She mostly runs around the set topless.Delia Sheppard, who long lost of credits include "protesting war widow" in Born on the Fourth of July, and "party girl" on Any Given Sunday, plays the sex bomb wife of Faraday, who is trying to kill him (they have a prenup, you see).Lots of goofy fun as the whole Hollywood scene is made fun of.
Woodyanders Sexy and slutty young Candy Faraday (a divinely bitchy portrayal by the gorgeous Delia Sheppard) tries to get geeky screenwriter Lou Lurrod (likable Steven Benton) to bump off her mean, overbearing cheapskate schlock movie producer husband King Faraday (essayed with deliciously hammy relish by Robert Quarry) and use his latest low-budget junk opus as the perfect cover for the murder. Director Jeff Broadstreet pokes gleefully silly fun at dimestore dreck cinema and brings a cheesy quality to the picture which perfectly matches the trashy subject matter. Comic highlights include a gut-busting send-up of music videos and the auditions for "Werewolves in Heat." Robert Benson's witty script offers plenty of snappy dialogue and enjoyably broad caricatures (King Faraday in particular is a complete sleazy riot). The lively acting from a game cast qualifies as another substantial asset: the ever-adorable Linnea Quigley as sweet scream queen Phoebe Love, Dennis Dale as eager hack director Rake Webber, Veronica Hart as King Faraday's bratty daughter Lola, Stephen Liska as amiable loan shark Gersch Stephan Steingulian, Spice Williams as hot bodybuilder Sabina, and Scott Coulter as flaky make-up f/x guy Mitchell Froom. Dale Larsen's suitably ratty cinematography and Leonard Marcel's bluesy, funky score both further enhance the infectiously tacky merriment. Better still, the luscious Linnea bares her beautiful breasts right at the start of the film while the delectable Delia shows off her yummy body several times. A real blithely inane hoot.
SanDiego Linnea Quigley is probably the cutest actress ever and has been one of my favorite actresses since Return of the Living Dead. I had seen her in earlier films like the Cheech & Chong movie, but she wasn't a name star at that time. I didn't start following her career until Return and have since watched every film before and after. I met her once at a film convention and we had an opportunity to chat prior to the opening. I was impressed how friendly and attentive she was to me as well as all her fans. She also came across as being very bright and very pleased with her life and career. I believe she said she was living with her parents at the time. I thought it was pretty cool that the family was still that important to her after fame. I think she would make a great motivational speaker because after we talked I felt like a million bucks. Linnea Quigley stars mostly in horror films and horror-comedy films. I really don't like most of the movies, not my genre, and I like her better in comedies, but I do like Linnea Quigley and watch merely for that sake. Here she is pretty darn cute, dresses in cute clothes and does a cute topless scene. These are her hallmarks and here she does them as cute as ever. She isn't given that much to say or do and that is a shame. There are many more films which give her better roles and I urge you to seek them out. I still recommend this film because I really like her look in it which is more along the lines of her look in Vice Academy (though I didn't really like her character that much in that film) and she appears to be having a blast. If you want to see the cutest actress who every graced film SEXBOMB is the place.
