cinemajesty Movie Review: "Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country" (1991)Paramount Pictures presents the exclusive as epic conclusion with mind-blowing one-time-engaging opening credits score to set the tone from underrated score composer Cliff Eidelman in favors of the original "Enterprise NCC-1701" crew starring William Shatner as James T. Kirk, Leonard Nimoy (1931-2015) as Mr. Spock and DeForest Kelley (1920-1999) as Doctor Leonard "Bones" McCoy imaginative-conceived by writer/producer Gene Roddenberry (1921-1991), who created the visionary television series "Star Trek" running in first reception on NBC (National Broadcasting Company). The screenplay also-written by reprising director Nicholas Meyer, who brought the ultra-philosphical first motion picture "Star Trek" directed by Robert Wise, releasing on December 7th 1979, out of its galactic corner into science-fiction-thriller splendors with "Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan" in splendid movie summer of 1982; here the director is even able to exceed its predecessors in a suspense-striking "Whodunit" storyline, when the crew of the "Enterprise" invites "Klingon" delegates, alongside fulminate playing Kirk-challenging actor Christopher Plummer as Supreme Officer Chang, who like no other brings "The Undiscovered Country" to one of the most receivable motion picture splendors for any science-fiction favoring spectator, when the film wins big in favor in high-contrast, ultra-stark concrete-pit environment, captured in exceptionally-striking cinematography by Hiro Sarita after a Starfleet committed murder of the peace-talking Klingon chancellor. In this "Star Trek" movie comes everything together from high-scale costumes as production design by legacy-knowledgable Herman F. Zimmerman, when every single member from the original crew outgoing from James Doohan (1920-2005) as Warp-engineer Montgomery "Scotty" Scott, Walter Koenig and George Takei as Spaceship Navigators Chekov and Sulu and the unmissable communication specialist Uhura, portrayed by Nichelle Nichols, when further supporting character perfmored by Kim Cattrall as newly-introduced "Enterprise" officer Lieutenant Valeris, when the plot thickens under constant suspense-accelerations to a fulfilling finish.© 2018 Felix Alexander Dausend (Cinemajesty Entertainments LLC)
Filipe Neto This film is the sixth film of the franchise and revolves around an attempt of peace between the Klingon and the Federation due to a serious danger that threatens that hostile empire. But what sets the public on the brink is that this is, truly, the last film of the franchise to bring the whole original cast. The years go by... even in the 23rd century. So it all revolves around the usual three main actors: William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy and DeForest Kelley were superb throughout the film and, thus, had the opportunity to close, in the best way, this part of their career (certainly the one that most contributed to make them famous and successful). The remaining cast, however, equaled the good performance of the three protagonists. The script, I confess, is a bit confusing, leaves a little to be desired and even makes us feel a bit sorry for the Klingons. The technical details of the film are roughly the same as the previous films, in particular with regard to special effects, but there are already a number of advanced and modern features that previous films did not have. The cinematography is also clearer, it seemed to me less misty than in older films. It's not a memorable movie, at all, but it's worth watching.
Nicolas F. Costoglou Star Trek VI: The undiscovered Country is my favourite Star Trek Film out of the series. It blends Science Fiction, Action, Adventure, and most interesting Polit-Thriller into one exciting movie, which is also the perfect end for the crew of the Enterprise, before the next Generation Crew got on board. The story is very intense and suspenseful. The idea that the human and the Klingon race has to work together, after a long time of being enemies, is a very well executed metaphor, and a great idea to continue. The special effects are state-of-the-art and have aged fairly well, most impressive, even today, are the great morphing effects used for a character in the movie who can change his appearance. The crew is great as always and everyone get something to do on his last mission. Nicholas Meyer also (again) shows us things we haven't seen before in a Star Trek movie, like Klingon ships from inside (outside the bridge), or the rest of the Enterprise-crew.The cinematography is great and the lighting extremely moody and gives the movie his own style. The soundtrack is great as always, but this is sadly one of the movies which don't use the Jerry Goldsmith-theme.All in all my favourite Star Trek Film, technically and thematically nearly flawless executed, and a great good bye to a great crew we'll never forget...
trashgang The last flick with the original crew and for me the best one. There's suspense all over the flick and it never had a boring moment. But the most interesting thing is the fact that the comedy was left out an the characters and away from the parodies.Somehow if I compare it with part V the whole crew looks younger. But it was the final call for the whole crew. And they would be honored in the beginning of the flick but of course things go wrong when Kirk and Bones are taken in prison. From there on all is top notch. A must see for all Trekkies and non Trekkies. Great story, perfect acting, stunning effects.Gore 0/5 Nudity 0/5 Effects 3/5 Story 3/5 Comedy 0/5
