Amy Adler Tammy (Denise Richards) is a young college student still living with her folks. She has the ex-boyfriend from hell, truly. He beats up all of her new love interests and tries to control her life. Although she has her eye on Michael, she plays it cool to protect him. But, hormones are hormones. She asks him to come over to her house one night and he does. Trouble is, her ex shows up, too. Michael gets the beating of a lifetime and ends up in a coma. Meanwhile, an unethical scientist needs a brain for his animatronic dinosaur. Michael's brain will do and he steals Michael from the hospital. So, that's how we arrive at a T-Rex called Michael. He is out for revenge and he is lethal. Can you spell trouble? This is an absolutely terrible movie. It has cult aspirations but they fall far short of true entertainment. Richards tries very hard and looks beautiful through one preposterous scene after another. The rest of the cast is pretty forgettable. Even the special effects are not that great. Okay. Someone out there will probably love this movie for its foibles, like an Ed Wood disaster. If you are that type, go find yourself a copy of this one. But, for everyone else, stay far, far away. You will end up blowing a couple of hours of your life, time you will never get back.
christopher_greenleaf I can not agree with the person who posted here saying that the film makers knew that they were making a bad film and that we should be in on the joke and enjoy it. This film should stand as the very definition of hack filmaking. This film is bizzare, disturbing, poorly acted, terribly directed and astonishingly un-funny. Watching Terry Kiser crack horribly lame one liners while murdering a comatose teenage boy is like viewing a Carol Burnett skit from hell. This film is fascinating in the same way a major automobile accident is. Denise Richards looks incredible as always but, her poor acting here and in the box office and critical disaster 'Drop Dead Gorgeous' are examples of why she has quickly fallen off the radar. On a positive note, I think the Dinosaur looked top notch and the special effects were very good.
jhaggardjr Denise Richards and Paul Walker are two rising young stars with lots of talent. The first time I saw Richards was in the 1997 sci/fi epic "Starship Troopers" and since then she has appeared in "Wild Things", "Drop Dead Gorgeous", and the recent James Bond film "The World Is Not Enough". The first time I saw Walker was in the 1998 Disney release "Meet the Deedles". Since then, he has appeared in "Pleasantville", "Varsity Blues", "She's All That", and most recently, "The Skulls". But I find it hard to believe that a couple of years before these two actors started showing up in these movies, they starred in "Tammy and the T-Rex". I saw this movie on the USA station not too long ago, and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. This movie is a complete mess. The first 15 minutes of the movie were O.K. which starts out as a love story between two teens (played by Richards and Walker). Then the movie takes a disasterous turn after the opening 15 minutes by turning into a sci-fi/horror/comedy with no wit and no imagination. The comedic moments are not funny, and one scene in the movie (involving Paul Walker) made me cringe big time (if you've seen this movie you probably know what scene I'm talking about). The filmmakers should have stuck with the love story then they might have had a good movie on their hands. But no. They had to throw in the plot with the dinosaur. Ridiculous. If you really want to see a good movie staring Denise Richards, see "Starship Troopers" or "The World Is Not Enough" (even though most people didn't like her in the latter). If you want to see Paul Walker do some good acting, see "Varsity Blues". Don't waste your time with this nonsense. I wouldn't be surprised that if you walked up to both of these actors and asked them "what was the worst movie you ever made?" both Richards and Walker would say this one. I'm sure they regret that they took part in this disaster. 1/2* (out of four)
princess-34 I came across this CHEESY flick while watching USA up all night one sat eve and had to laugh...ok the plot was lame and the acting was by no stretch of the imagination amazing, but for late nite laughs how can you go wrong? Plus i went to the same high school as Denise Richards and had no clue that this was a movie she was in until she came onscreen...so of course that made it watchable for me. However for any other joe smoe if you are looking for a little laugh and serious cheese this is the flick for you....
