MartinHafer This episode is about the large-scale tuberculosis epidemic that spread across the United States during the 19th and 20th centuries. Particular emphasis of the show is on treatments in lieu of medications and the proliferation of sanatoriums. Additionally, the history of research leading to a definitive cure were discussed in the show.Like most "American Experience" episodes, this one was made by using various folks who knew first-hand about the disease, various photos and film clips as well as narration. A quality episode (as usual) for the series, though I was surprised by the fact that the show kept talking about tuberculosis in regard to how it affected the lungs--but no mention of its spread through the skeletal system. Still, well worth seeing.
