huggibear A cute story coming from a book I might like to read some day. If I ever get to reading more often, that is. Well, this book is said to be a best seller according to the movie synopsis. This movie gets a solid 7 Star rating from me! Darn good fantasy-like story! Let's pretend we are under a fantasy-like contract and square this country and the people of it away like they do in the US Navy. Good idea?
countrygirl-74391 I have been watching Hallmark Channel's Christmas movies for a long time and I have seen some good ones some in the middle and some bad ones. This movie has to have been the worst one I have ever seen. The acting was awful. The lead characters had no chemistry, the story was all over the place and half the time I had no idea what the plot was. What exactly was this movie about? Jaime King is not at all attractive and dressing her in those high neck outfits and plain sheaths for dresses didn't help any. I've always liked Luke MacFarlane but this movie did not showcase his best acting. I give the credit of his poor performance to Jamie King who's showed no emotion at all. Even when she was crying it seemed fake and forced. The scenes were awkward, for example the one where they left the theater after watching 'It's a wonderful life,' it wasn't really clear if he liked the movie or not and lets not forget when they listen for a bell (that I didn't hear) and say an angel got it's wings. Talk about awkward, how about that laugh at the end? The best friend?? Where was she throughout the movie? At the end she and Elise are going to always be together? That scene surprised me as I didn't' get the feeling that they were all that close. Did Elise actually sell the business to her ex husband? I thought Nick had papers for her to look at so that she could buy him out? And what was up with Zoe? What exactly was her role in the whole movie? An extra character who cluttered up the film. THE ONLY thing I liked and was impressed with was the acting and character of Ashley Liss. Sarah Smyth was impressive, believable and original. I found myself looking forward to scenes with her in it. The chemistry between her character and Luke's character was very apparent. Maybe she should have been cast as the lead actress instead of Jamie King. It would certainly have made the movie at least bearable. I've read that this movie was based on a book. From what I am reading this is a classic case of the book is much better than the movie. It's a good thing I hadn't read it.Save your time on this one. This was an hour and a half of my life I can never get back.
Christmas-Reviewer BEWARE OF FALSE REVIEWS & REVIEWERS. SOME REVIEWERS HAVE ONLY ONE REVIEW TO THEIR NAME. NOW WHEN ITS A POSITIVE REVIEW THAT TELLS ME THEY WERE INVOLVED WITH THE FILM. IF ITS A NEGATIVE REVIEW THEN THEY MIGHT HAVE A GRUDGE AGAINST THE FILM . NOW I HAVE REVIEWED OVER 200 HOLIDAY FILMS. I HAVE NO AGENDA. I AM HONEST! This is a new Christmas Movie in 2016 that is part of the "Countdown to Christmas" on the Hallmark Channel. The film however fails to add anything new and the male lead is so miscast that harms the entire film. Now in this film is about two strangers who share a disdain for Christmas results in The Mistletoe Promise, a pact to help them navigate their holiday complications – together. But as they spend more time with each other and experience the magic of Christmas the phony couple discovers there may be more to their contract than business. The male lead however in this film is very good looking so it is hard to believe that he "doesn't have a girlfriend". They needed to cast someone that wasn't so good looking. Now the acting is fine and the pacing is fine. The script however isn't. You can connect the dots and know how it will end. I think this film should of taken some chances and not give the ending we would expect. It would of been nice had then been a few more complications that danger this fake couples cover. Now if you haven't seen too many Christmas movies you "might" like this.
clairelu60 As a lover of the "feel-good", slightly cheesy hallmark movies, I was very excited to watch this movie. I was, however, extremely disappointed by the quality.I never really expect any giant plot twists or any excellent writing; the hallmark movies are known for their stories that just make you feel good. This movie had no story. The plot is extremely boring, as it follows the premise of the summary exactly. The whole movies follows this one "couple" pretending to be in love. Nothing interesting or even believable happens. In fact, I can't believe that either of them hated Christmas in the first place because the second they spend time together, they start loving Christmas. The acting in his film is not great and nothing happens to these two characters. They don't even fall in love until the very end, when they are suddenly so in love, after having stated about a million times that their arrangement was just a business arrangement. If you have a few hours to kill, I suggest another hallmark Christmas movie.
