squidward123 The Oregonian is a lesser known feature film set in the rural Oregon wilderness. First screened at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival in 2011, respected director Steven Spielberg once called it "genre defining." With a limited budget, budding producer Calvin Reeder uses unique cinematic effects to send chills down any viewer's spine. The Oregonian does away with traditional big budget horror scares and uses techniques such as distorted sound effects and the element of suspense to deliver sharp and genuinely disturbing scares. The star studded cast drives this film's intensity, including a night-maringly scary "Green Monster" character that you are always on the lookout for. With an extremely unpredictable plot and major character development, this film is a refreshing take on the horror genre. This unpredictable plot keeps you on your toes the whole ride, and culminates in an incredible climax that leaves more questions than answers. "What does the omelet represent?" "Can I trust my own Grandma the next time I see her?" "How much gasoline can one man drink?" You may interpret the ending how you like, but there is no denying this is an amazing film that pushes the boundaries of what we know to be true in the horror industry. Strap in for this wild ride and I can assure you it will be well worth your time.
tprescott Out of all of the movies I have watched in my day, The Oregonian very well may be the most strange movie I have ever watched. But it is this quality that made this movie enjoyable for me. To be honest, when I watched this movie I never at any point had any clue what was going on or what the purpose could be. I think this is the reason why this movie has gotten some negative reviews, because the critics don't appreciate true intellectual weirdness, aka genius. I did not have my true appreciation for this movie until afterwards, lying awake at night wondering what the hell I just watched, and looking up explanations on my phone. After reading various websites, I came to the conclusion that the true genius is that there is no right answer as to what happened in this movie. You can guess and use logic all you want to but two people may never have the same interpretation of the content and story which makes it a different experience for everyone. I hope that if you are reading this review wondering whether to watch this movie, you are looking for something unique instead of another goddamn boxing movie. Its the same plot every time how are these still selling. Well long story short, you need The Oregonian. The world needs The Oregonian. P.S. if you planned on calling your grandma any time soon I would do it before you watch this film
carsonlail If you're on the hunt for an enlightening, quality family film, The Oregonian is your answer. Never before have i seen a cinema so eye- opening and educational. Its film quality, dialogue, and story line are just a few of the qualities that cause me to put The Oregonian at #1 on my top ten movies list. If you're looking for excitement, just wait until you meet grandma, mummy man, green monster and the rest of the Oregon gang. I am sure they will show you a jolly good time. Have you ever seen a man pee rainbows? i bet not. This movie has that, along with more twists and turns than a roller-coaster hand job. This phenomenal motion picture causes a questioning of everything you once believed in and can make you re-evaluate your life. In my eyes, the green monster and the Movie itself are our saviors. It is sure to make a positive impact on you and leave a content smile upon your face. I recommend that you watch this movie with your woman and a couple of gasoline margaritas. Sit back and let grandma work her magic.
Ethan Cook From the very first scene this movie will have you hooked. The Oregonian is like a the craziest roller-coaster you have ever been on, it has the ups and downs and loopy loops. At every turn there is something unexpected, keeping you engaged the whole time and on the edge of your seat. The filmography is truly exceptional and how they changed for scene to scene and from third person to first person was truly beautiful. And it contains what every great movie must have, a truly masterful sound track. Between the music and the filmography there truly is not another movie that can match up to this one. And of course how can we forget the lovely granny in the red a truly inspiring character in this movie and executed perfectly. i hope one day I will sit down with my family in our living room and we will all enjoy watching The Oregonian.
