Davis P I really like Sarah Michelle Gellar, but this movie was just plain terrible. I mean that's all there is to it, it's a very dull and effortless movie. The acting is pretty so-so to be honest. Gellar isn't bad per say but it's certainly not her best performance and I think she could've done better. The other actors are just so-so, like the rest of the movie. The script is very lackluster, it doesn't really give a lot of depth to the characters or the storyline. I was originally intrigued by the plot and the trailer, that's why I decided to watch it, but I unfortunately let down. The plot looks like it could be interesting and be a good set up for a well made film, but it just never turns out. It all begins with Sarah Michelle Gellar's character as a child, it shows what happens to her while at a fair with her father. Then it goes to her current day and she is heading back home for some business, when she returns home she starts to experience things that remind her of what happened all those years ago. The suspense really doesn't work and the movie is also void of any creepy feeling or scariness. It just kind of jumps from scene to scene showing what Sarah Michelle Gellar is doing and discovering. But the issue is that nothing she's doing is in the least bit interesting, nothing keeps the audience invested or wanting to keep watching. I contemplated turning it off but I decided to finish it. 1/10 for the return. REALLY not worth anyone's time.
poyrazbaklan So rarely would I be let down by movies I had no hopes of, yet the Return managed just that. I only heard that it had a rather silly premise but still wanted to see it just because of Sarah Michelle Gellar. I know her Buffy years are over, I know her career is in a rather steep decline and she wasn't much of a good actor to begin with; but still. And still I was disappointed. They managed to create characters that there is no way you can relate to. You are not informed in the beginning enough to care about them. Yes, something has happened to SMG when she was small and yes she is haunted by it, but the mystery is never enough to draw you in. You just watch the movie, kept awake by the few scares it offers and then get the revelation in the end, which is not very interesting at all. The rest is her just trying to look scared and/or mystified. I am not going give away the twist at the end, because I am not sure if you can call it a twist. But I can say it is illogical(duh, supernatural), uninteresting and uninspired.
mina-magdy42 This is maybe considered one of the movies that i highly regretted when i saw it , it is unbelievably slow and the sequence is BORING boring boring , i hit the forward button because simply i couldn't stand sitting all the movie duration watching boring faces wondering around with no reason and useless shots . Not mention that the end is supposed to be more interesting but hell , after all the suffering of watching this movie , u couldn't even enjoy the end coz it is simply SUCKS . people just spare ur time and the most important spare ur heads coz u will have high blood pressure regretting that u saw this movie and wishing that u never watch it at alllllll
dbdumonteil Why did Sam Shepard get involved in that business? This is the umpteenth story of past events which come pack to haunt you and might possibly "return" .Sarah Michelle Gellar -who has known better days in the fantasy and horror genre -portrays a strange girl, who at work can be tough and a real winner (her colleague gets jealous!),but who cannot cope with mysterious things which happened long ago when she was still a little girl.Maybe if the part of the father had been less underwritten ,it could have been a task equal to Sheppard's talent.I'd take "I know what you did last summer" (and even its sequel) over "the return " any day.
