siderite I am not a fan of Steve Coogan, but I found myself actually laughing at some of the scenes in the film. And they weren't even very comedic. The chemistry between him and Rob Brydon is obvious, which is probably why they did two other similar films. BTW, I am also going to watch those, so clearly I liked them.If you are a fan of British self deprecating humor, honest and a bit insulting, then you are going to like the film. The fact that Coogan is probably confronting some of his personal issues as well (both leads are playing themselves), is even more impressive.Give it a try. My wife liked it, the landscapes are great, there is some fancy food prepared and shown, even if the film itself is hardly about food. Think of it as a buddy trip film, with funny moments that feel very real.
studioAT 'The Trip' is one of the many shows that seem to be on currently or have been on recently that feature actors playing versions of themselves. In this show we have Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon doing exactly that. It's a rambling travelogue of a show, that enables both performers to shine. The publics perception of them already plays a big part in it's success too, as they both play to it and against it well.It doesn't really go anywhere though for me, with each episode hitting the re-set button. I also found it to be a little self-indulgent.What I would recommend though is watching the TV series version of it rather than the expanded 'film' attempt, which milks it a bit too much.
rickc-94-988596 This film was utterly uninteresting. Spoiler: 2 guys bullshitting for 2 hours. God, it was just so boring....Really the guys just sit and talk in the car. then they sit and talk in a restaurant. Their banter is mostly annoying. I signed up for an account just to try to counteract the 7.1 rating here on IMDb...i usually trust the ratings and a 7 should usually be a decent film. This was just Garbage. I would put it on par with Adam Sandler's "Overboard" or Whoopi Goldberg's "The Telephone"...both movies designed to waste your time and cash in on an actor's celebrity. I want my 2 hours back. really. Yuk. Boring. Nuff said.
Gordon-11 This film tells the story of a famous entertainer going to restaurants in different parts of England to write a culinary review. His girlfriend pulled out at the last minute, so he goes with his best friend instead. The two kept talking almost non stop, and they are super annoying. The constant imitation of celebrity voices is cool for one time, but when the viewers are subjected to "she's only fifteen years old" twenty times literally, it just is super annoying. And they really had to sing The Winner Takes It All verse after verse? The viewers aren't stupid, two or three lives would have been adequate to convert the message. And there was a line when one asks the other to shut up and enjoy the silence. How apt and how ironic!
