Synopsis

A Group of teenagers test the legend of an immortal witch and get more than they bargained for. It's almost Halloween and six young people, spooked but not undaunted by the folklore surrounding an old haunted house, make their way to the abode of the legendary Wicked, perhaps hoping to provoke the malevolent witch, but clearly not prepared for what they've certainly unleashed.

foutainoflife I really think this film deserves a 6.5-7. This is a B movie so you kinda have to give credit where credit is due in regards to B movies. It really wasn't as bad as some folks are making it out to be. Some folks are sorta snobby when it comes to horror though. If it ain't the best, then they'll say it was the worst. Is the acting great? It is better than most. It wasn't so bad that I couldn't overlook it. Only one character's crying really started to get under my skin. Was the Story up to par? What story doesn't have it's holes? For a B movie, I thought it was a fairly well written story of a witch. Just don't expect a lot of backstory to her. What about the special effects and makeup? The make up wasn't awful but it could have been a little bit better. There wasn't a lot of gore. The scenes where there was some blood were just ok. The props used in those scenes were enough to make you say they were gross. There is some CGI stuff but I actually liked what I saw. It was done in such a manner that it suited the scenes where it was being used and really tried to push the "magic" aspect. How was the overall feel? This is probably were my negative thoughts come in but only because when I watch horror, I want to feel a sense of suspense and I just didn't get there. It isn't the best but it is really good compared to most B movies. I say give it a chance.
loomis78-815-989034 This movie centers on an old town ghost story that the abandoned house in the woods is occupied by the spirit of a witch. The local kids use it as a dare to go out there and break the windows which is told will invoke the witch's spirit. When a young girl named Amanda (Caitlin Carmichael) disappears after doing just that, the locals blame it on the legend of the witch. This doesn't stop Zach (Deeley) from taking his friends out to the site to party, have sex and then of course break the windows of the house. Before you can say "eye of newt" the group is being captured and killed by the CGI witch as they try to escape and save the imprisoned Amanda. The by-the-numbers story and cardboard characters don't help this pretty predictable movie that makes it tough to find a character to side with. The closest we come to is Zach's younger brother Max played by Devon Werkheiser and his spunky tomboy girlfriend played by talented actress Diana Hopper. The mostly CGI witch doesn't do much in the way of getting scares, but the movie does paint the screen red at times with the demise of a few characters. It just seems like writer Michael Vickerman should have written one more draft of this script to iron out the bumps and a shorter running time could have turned this into a nice B flick to enjoy. The movie is well made and certainly watchable, but the undercooked script and story drain it from truly being effective.
adi_2002 After a little girl miraculously disappears from her bed one evening but she tells her mother that a witch is coming after her, a group of friends decide to go to the house where supposedly the witch lives. A local girl finds out about their plans after she heard them talking about it at the grandfather's funeral. She tells Max, who is a friend of her, to go after them to get evidence but also to put a bad light on them. Although their father said not to leave the house but they do not listen and for Zach is easy to leave because he has a proof about his brother, an indecent picture. Eventually Max forget about it and go along with Terri after them. Legend says that once threw a rock at the witch's window house, it will come for you so all comply. What they do not know is that it is true and now must fight together to defeat the witch and survive. It's a bad movie, where we see teens talking dirty to each other but also to law enforcement, they show obscene signs and police instead to prove maturity and respect, they respond in same manner. Also when the cops finally got there and one of them explore the basement why he could not see the boy on the table? Is it because the child was under a spell or the cop is a moron? If you're a kid who started to notice that hair begin to grow in some intimate areas of the body, then this movie is just right, but if you're a grown man, mature and responsible, then you will pass over.
chandrav Be as wary of the 1 ratings as the 9s! This is NOT the worst movie ever made, as some people are trying to say or even the worst horror movie ever made! Neither is it the best movie ever, I'm not saying that, but i feel many of the reviews are simply unfair and for some reason biased. You want to see a TRULY bad movie, watch Contagio (directed by Steve Session, OMG, now THAT is a bad movie!!!!!). The acting in The Wicked is not bad, again, not sure why some reviewers say they are. They're solid, the movie hangs together...I do wish the ending had been better. It's low budget, but not as low as many others I've seen. It doesn't look like it was made with a camera phone, which seems to be the usual horror fare these days! It was a little trite and not as scary as I'd hoped, but enjoyable overall. I suspect the really bad reviewers have some sort of beef with someone related to this film.
