tocfba Does little to none to show how many crimes are stopped by armed citizens. I don't have the numbers in front of me but it is at least 3 times more crimes stopped than crimes committed.
Darren Cordier A Documentary is a work of non-fiction meant to document reality and inform. This is a film with several distortions of facts and creative editing to disguise the truth. Facts are highly distorted and taken out of context to support a political agenda. Not only is there no attempt to provide both sides of the argument, there are deliberate distortions of the facts and portrayals of only the fringe elements of those who oppose the point of view of the film-makers. Watchers should do their own research of statements in the piece. However, I wouldn't waste the time with the film, just do your own research.
mark-95591-45234 Read up on the biased liberal slant on this 'movie'. It poses as a 'documentary' but is anything but factual and balanced.Typical opinion piece masquerading as a true factual doc. Even the producer/director admits editing to bias the reporting.Even IMDb says, "there was a pause edited into the movie following pro-gun enthusiasts being asked a question on background checks. The producers claimed it was for 'dramatic effect' but in reality the pro-gun enthusiasts responded almost immediately. This led many to question the film and Katie Couric's integrity." Couric is a far left winger and this goes down as 2nd only to Al Gore's pathetic 'documentary' on global warming.
gilmoreross As a film, Under the Gun is a just an average, slow-moving narrative. What makes it an exceptionally poor piece of film making however, is the fact that it is marketed and described as an objective and balanced documentary on the subject of gun control, when it is in fact nothing of the sort. This is plain and simple, a propaganda piece. The official website of the film actually comes with links about how to lobby for more gun control laws. At no point does the film attempt to present an actual balanced view on the subject. This is anti-gun propaganda, so thinly veiled that it comes across as lazy. Recently revealed information showing biased editing of interviews with pro 2nd Amendment activists, intentionally designed to inaccurately make them appear stumped by the questions, is as disappointing as it is not surprising. This is not journalism, and this is not a documentary. If you are looking for a balanced and fact based documentary on the subject of gun control, this is absolutely not the film for you.
