Is this supposed to be a comedy show ? I struggled through 2 episodes and didn't laugh once ! Am I missing something here ? I'm not surprised as it's written by and stars the over-rated David Walliams. What a load of tosh !I thought I had a good sense of humour, loving the original Porridge, Only Fools, Blackadder, Bottom and stuff like that. This is just a load of tripe in the same league as Jack Whitehall's show . If this is the best we can come up with we are screwed !

I can't believe that I just wasted half an hour of my life watching this tosh. And I can't believe that David Walliams wrote it. It's so bad. Despite its stellar cast it has no likable (or believable) characters, no jokes, no laughter and no place on the BBC. It looks like a cheap imitation of Jack Whitehall's Bad Education and that was pretty dire itself.I seriously wonder how much Mr Wallians (and the mysterious Dawson Brothers - are they a circus act?) got paid to create this unfunny mess. And did it really take all of them to write it? Philip Glenister takes on the role of the dumb, insensitive PE teacher which has been seen a thousand times before from The Grimleys to Teachers (where it was done so much better). Catherine Tate goes into automatic putting on a series of silly voices and mugging a lot to the camera but without saying any funny lines. There's a fat caretaker who, get this, eats a lot. And the children playing the school kids sit there in dumb silence most of the time perhaps thinking to themselves "is this really a comedy?. I know that's what I'm thinking. But perhaps the biggest disappointment is Mr Walliams himself who by accident, or design, seems to have created a character who has not had one single funny line.Big School? Big Con more like.

This is a really great series with marvellous character development. If you went to school in the UK, Big School is definitely worth a watch since there will no doubt be moments which will spark memories (key the science experiments...) You end up growing fond of the people and actually hoping things will go well for them. Lots of laughs; a play of human weakness and desire and ineptitude and the show we put up to make up for all our shortcomings. A slightly lighter, prolonged version of The History Boys - and that is basically as good as it gets in my book.--------- ---------- ---------- ---------- -------- --------- --------- --------- -------- ----------- --------- ----------- ----------- ----------- ------------- ----------- ----------- ------- -------- -------- --------- ------- --- (filling up extra IMDb lines - ridiculous rule)

Never have I seen a show with so many of my favorite people in it be so terrible. I mean Walliams and Tate have a long history of fantastic comedy but I found myself not even cracking a smile. Very disappointed, every joke is executed painfully and badly. After watching the first episode I never wanted to see it again, but I made myself watch the second to be fair, as pilots/first episodes can sometimes be terrible. But no, after watching the second episode I don't think I'll be watching this again, I have no idea how anyone can find this funny in the slightest. It's not even a "so bad it's good" type of thing either. I have no clue how comedy masterminds came up with something so bad.
