"Demons" is a series that, on paper, sounds great to me. The British series is about a teenager named Luke Rutherford, who lives with his single mother after his father passed away many years ago. After meeting his godfather, Rupert Galvin, Luke discovers he is the last in the line of the Van Helsings, who are called "smiters" (demon slayers). The show follows the adventures of Luke and Rupert, Rupert's friend Mina Harker and Luke's best friend Ruby, who has a crush on Luke but he seems oblivious to it.The show is, at least, somewhat entertaining. However the mythology is extremely vague, characters come and go and there's no feeling of cohesiveness to the story. The plot sometimes takes a while to get going and every one of the six episodes, except maybe the second one, is just very anti-climatic. I finished the series because it was only 6 episodes and after finishing half of it I felt obligated to finish. It's a shame the show is such a mess, there is real promise here but it was simply mishandled.

I can understand actually those who disliked this series. I personally did like it in a way, and think with more time it would have gotten better. It's just sad that it didn't get that chance. The writing is clichéd and weak in places, and I agree Phillip Glenister's accent needed work as did some of the effects. However, the look of the series was suitably bold and stylish, the music added to the atmosphere and rarely felt over bearing and the stories while dull to start with maintained interest. The demons are imposing enough, some of the episodes did have moments where they were genuinely atmospheric and some effects are at least serviceable. To begin with, the acting was not that good, and it wasn't just Glenister's accent, but I feel it steadily improved. In conclusion, Demons had a lot of faults, but I personally didn't think it was that bad. 6/10 Bethany Cox

i loved this show. i don't why everybody gave it such horrible reviews. they gave bad reviews all the way up to the last episode, meaning they watched it all the way up to the last episode. i think they were probably closet fans! as for "Rupert's" bad American accent, as an American, it's not that bad. he sounds better than most Americans i know, so give the guy a break already. as for the show, bring it back, it rocked. i didn't think it was a rip off of Buffy or Angel or any of those other shows. i thought it was a fresh idea, acted well and fun to watch. in a time when so many of our shows are cookie cutter, reality TV nonsense, this was something fresh and it was a sad day when they canceled it.

When I initially saw this I thought awww God : Another vampire slaying series then I thought FOR FAMILIES. The first episode was one big setup with Phillip Glenister sporting a decidedly dodgy American accent and the whole thing being entertaining. The second episode showed an improvement but was still an anticlimax with the monster only being on screen for a few minutes, whilst Richard Wilson's turn as Father Simeon showed his superb acting ability. Episode three picked up and was by far better than its predecessors. Kevin Mcnally was fantastic as Mr Tibbs although his screen Time was disappointing. OVerall It was enjoyable.
