EP1 They Bite Jan 03, 2009

Luke Rutherford is your average teenager – until his dead father's best friend, Rupert Galvin, turns up. Galvin has come to tell Luke his secret destiny: he's the real-life great-grandson of Abraham Van Helsing, the vampire hunter in Bram Stoker's Dracula. Luke is set to inherit the family mantle as a warrior against the supernatural entities swarming the earth. Unfortunately, powerful Half-Life, Gladiolus Thrip (Mackenzie Crook) is standing in his way.

EP2 The Whole Enchilada Jan 10, 2009

Six-year-old Madge might think her sister has been ‘taken up to heaven by an angel’ but Galvin suspects otherwise. Everything points to half-life involvement and he thinks it’s the perfect project for Luke. A visit to zombie priest, Father Simeon (guest star Richard Wilson) confirms Galvin’s suspicions. Gilgamel is no angel – he’s a demon, a travesty demon, a Type 9 entity attracted by the odour of sanctity. Can Luke rise to the challenge?

EP3 Saving Grace Jan 17, 2009

Galvin lets his emotions get the better of him when his wife's murderer, Mr Tibbs, arrives in town. Hell-bent on revenge and with no regard for his own safety, Galvin arms himself to the teeth and embarks on what amounts to little more than a suicide mission. The problem is, his thirst for vengeance leads him straight into rat-man's trap, putting more than his own life at risk.

EP4 Suckers Jan 24, 2009

When a bad boy vampire arrives on the scene and Mina starts behaving strangely, Galvin gets suspicious. Mina confesses that Quincey is back. He has come for her – he wants her to give in to her half-blood heritage. Galvin reassures her that he, of all people, understands – but they both know that sentiment has no place in the smiting game. One thing’s for sure - a battle of epic proportions is in the offing…

EP5 Smitten Jan 31, 2009

Mina and Galvin's investigation of a murder lead them to believe that Luke is in danger. Whilst Luke is lying low Mina starts having visions of a winged beast; Galvin and Ruby are concerned that Luke's new love interest is a low life who had taken the form of a beautiful female to trick its prey.

EP6 Nothing Like Nebraska Feb 07, 2009

Luke becomes haunted by dreams about the car crash that killed his father and Galvin's connection to it. A visit to a psychic convinces him his godfather is not the man he seems and, with Gladiolus Thrip back on the scene and showing an unhealthy interest in Luke's past, the vampire-fighting duo look set to be torn apart.

prydain17 "Demons" is a series that, on paper, sounds great to me. The British series is about a teenager named Luke Rutherford, who lives with his single mother after his father passed away many years ago. After meeting his godfather, Rupert Galvin, Luke discovers he is the last in the line of the Van Helsings, who are called "smiters" (demon slayers). The show follows the adventures of Luke and Rupert, Rupert's friend Mina Harker and Luke's best friend Ruby, who has a crush on Luke but he seems oblivious to it.The show is, at least, somewhat entertaining. However the mythology is extremely vague, characters come and go and there's no feeling of cohesiveness to the story. The plot sometimes takes a while to get going and every one of the six episodes, except maybe the second one, is just very anti-climatic. I finished the series because it was only 6 episodes and after finishing half of it I felt obligated to finish. It's a shame the show is such a mess, there is real promise here but it was simply mishandled.
TheLittleSongbird I can understand actually those who disliked this series. I personally did like it in a way, and think with more time it would have gotten better. It's just sad that it didn't get that chance. The writing is clichéd and weak in places, and I agree Phillip Glenister's accent needed work as did some of the effects. However, the look of the series was suitably bold and stylish, the music added to the atmosphere and rarely felt over bearing and the stories while dull to start with maintained interest. The demons are imposing enough, some of the episodes did have moments where they were genuinely atmospheric and some effects are at least serviceable. To begin with, the acting was not that good, and it wasn't just Glenister's accent, but I feel it steadily improved. In conclusion, Demons had a lot of faults, but I personally didn't think it was that bad. 6/10 Bethany Cox
jerikleiff i loved this show. i don't why everybody gave it such horrible reviews. they gave bad reviews all the way up to the last episode, meaning they watched it all the way up to the last episode. i think they were probably closet fans! as for "Rupert's" bad American accent, as an American, it's not that bad. he sounds better than most Americans i know, so give the guy a break already. as for the show, bring it back, it rocked. i didn't think it was a rip off of Buffy or Angel or any of those other shows. i thought it was a fresh idea, acted well and fun to watch. in a time when so many of our shows are cookie cutter, reality TV nonsense, this was something fresh and it was a sad day when they canceled it.
ringofhether When I initially saw this I thought awww God : Another vampire slaying series then I thought FOR FAMILIES. The first episode was one big setup with Phillip Glenister sporting a decidedly dodgy American accent and the whole thing being entertaining. The second episode showed an improvement but was still an anticlimax with the monster only being on screen for a few minutes, whilst Richard Wilson's turn as Father Simeon showed his superb acting ability. Episode three picked up and was by far better than its predecessors. Kevin Mcnally was fantastic as Mr Tibbs although his screen Time was disappointing. OVerall It was enjoyable.
