Expecting double trouble (read double pounding) they are surprised when the Denmeads fall head over heels with each other and are too infatuated to seek retribution. It proves to be a challenging situation for all concerned, particularly Charity who is convinced Denmead is having an affair… imagine her surprise when she finds out who it is with.

EP5 His Life as a Dog Oct 24, 2015

The leader of the Wolf Soldiers of the 4th Water Principal, long-time allies of Hiro's clan, needs a place to hide out and the Stitt house seems the perfect choice. Matters are complicated when Peg assumes he is a dog, the fact he is 8 feet tall, has six legs, wears a tunic and wields an axe does not seem to register. He begrudgingly plays along, stay on his mat and puts up with the indignities of the social scene at the dog park. His pursuers, the lizard-like Nephlans eventually arrive - only to find he has "gone walkies".

EP6 Prince Harming Oct 31, 2015

The school turns upside down with the arrival of a Bishonen prince. He is strikingly beautiful, deeply troubled, self-obsessed and carries a parasol - he pretty much ticks all the boxes for Charity. When she falls for him, Hiro's warnings are dismissed as the ravings of a jealous fool until it is too late. Everyone must pitch in to get Charity out of this deadly jam. Carriage rides from hell and martial arts combine with French food to deliver a rich plot with a bizarre message.

EP7 See Ya Later, Gladiator Nov 07, 2015

When a school play is not big enough to satisfy Max's theatrical ambitions he takes matters into his own hands...which just happen to be holding the powered-up deck of cards. Stardom awaits in the other world but unfortunately for Max he finds it is in the gladiatorial arena. Not one to think much about the future, Max enjoys the present right up to the bitter end that awaits him - and those he happily drags down with him.

EP8 Amonsun Under Fire Nov 14, 2015

When an overworked and under-appreciated Amonsun decides to go on strike, it doesn't quite have the desired effect. Hiro simply replaces him with a new sidekick, the efficient yet calculating Felintine. Defeated, Amonsun returns to his home town, but whilst there he uncovers that Felintine is not who they think she is. Meanwhile John and Charity have come to the same realization a little too late and are faced with Felintine's evil secret identity. Hiro must swallow his pride and hope he can still enlist Amonsun's help to defeat this jilted enemy.

EP9 Sweet Potato Nov 21, 2015

An inferior set of Battle Day Zero cards is mysteriously released as a giveaway by a potato chip company. Hiro is on the case but the boys are distracted by the arrival of a giant devil baby, Sweet Potato, who emerges from a chip packet and wreaks havoc on the town. A cautionary tale regarding teen parenting ensues.

EP10 I'll Take the Couch Nov 28, 2015

An unexpected visit by Hiro's parents throws the Stitt household and the entire town into disarray. The Karutas' arrival coincides with Charity's 16th birthday complicates matters further, but not as much as the house's utter destruction. Crashers from another dimension and plenty of teen angst combine to provide a night no-one will forget. Strangely, everyone has a good time except Charity whose attempts at sabotage all collapse - much like the Stitt house after their guests finally leave.

EP11 Mystic Skater Dec 05, 2015

Hiro's hidden abilities with a skateboard are put to the test with the arrival of a vengeful skater from another dimension. John is keen to impress a girl and he swaps his board for Hiro's upgraded model. Glory follows - but it is fleeting, and he now has to face-off in a skateboarding apocalypse. The skate bowl has never been more alive with the promise of such chaos and destruction.

EP12 Dad to the Bone Dec 12, 2015

The exchange kids exchange back to their original worlds for some much needed father-and-son time. However distance has not made respective hearts grow fonder. Principal Rogerson's son Leroy returns from his stint as an exchange student on Zero as a power-mad warrior determined to take his father's crown and the school with it. Meanwhile. Hiro has his hands full with an emotional Karuta after he pushes the "feelings" button a little too hard. John and Max have to wade through the mush and angst to set things straight.

EP13 Dead Cute Dec 19, 2015

Max's shortcut to getting himself a valentine and Denmead's opportunistic nature combine to create mayhem in the form of the Malentwine, an impossibly cute creature that possesses the mind of any girl that touches it. A craze takes off and John and Max look to cash in. However, there is a downside - the end of the world as we know it. Just another day at South Port High.

zoratwilight Note that I am writing my thoughts and impressions of the show based off of episode one, so there is a chance that episodes 2 through 5 or the movie are much better.I am an avid anime watcher/manga reader (from popular shows like Naruto to more obscure ones like Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo), so when I encountered a show that mixed western-style animation with anime, I got really excited. Unfortunately, my expectations were not met. The characters weren't very interesting, the animation looks like cheap flash animation, and the comedy wasn't anything new.Almost all of the characters fit into some kind of stereotype. John is an average nice guy though a bit of a loser, Max is a lisping nerd, and Charity is the perpetually irritated and mean older sister. All of the adults have proved themselves completely useless and practically unnecessary for the plot. You could remove them and the episode would play out just the same save for a few jokes. Many of the background students are typical high school stereotypes (dumb jock, preppy girls, nerds, etc). Put simply, everyone is bland. However, I was willing to overlook this if the introduction of the anime characters would make the show much more entertaining than it was currently proving to be.I did not understand the first thing that came out of Hiro's mouth. I understand what they were going for by having him say something really simple in a complicated way, but since I didn't know what he was trying to say in the first place, I didn't find it funny. After witnessing more of his behavior, Hiro felt like more of an exaggeration of what someone who has never seen anime before thinks anime characters are like. In other words, Hiro is an extremely overpowered and loud character armed with all sorts of laser weapons. The animation here is rather... Johnny Test-y. I have seen flash animation done well (Wakfu), and this is nothing to write home about. I do like the anime characters' designs though. The hair is spot on.The comedy in this is about as bland as everything else. There's some lame toilet humor, but most of the humor falls on Max and Hiro. Max is always acting like a slightly misogynistic nerd who is waaaay too invested in a card game and only talks about fantasy/nerd stuff. Basically, nothing that hasn't been done before. Hiro is always running around screwing things up with misunderstandings and his stereotype-ness. Again, nothing new. The only thing that made me laugh was when Hiro referred to his yelling as the way of his people. The show would be a lot funnier if it was more about the interactions between Hiro's stereotype and everyone else's stereotypes.Perhaps episode 2 fixes things I have complained about, but as a start of a series, episode 1 of Exchange Student Zero is a disappointment.
jojojemmett This is Australian, I am Australian and this show is crap in a nutshell. Why you ask? Stupid Anime-esque and stupid stereotypes. First you have the geeky kids who love TCGs (Trading Card Games), Then you have the Spiky Haired Amazing 'Hero' who came from said Trading Card Game, Then ya have Sister who wants to strive for boys and being the leader of her school...lame!!!Then you have these villains, If you can call them that, A photographer who captures people and put them into trading cards and more and more and more. It's as stupid as Clarence, Isn't like anime at all and If you want a spiky haired hero, talk to Cloud Strife. Avoid this at ALL COSTS!!!! And one more stereotype, the 'cute' blond haired anime girl who looks like the one from Death Note, and The Voice Actors, Vincent Tong? You used to be cool. Matusda is ashamed!
jenkenton I have the first four episodes that have been posted; because I live in America, I have difficulty finding cartoons from foreign countries.Anyway, this series is amazing; it has a unique blend of Western Animation and Japanese anime, almost like a reverse Kappa Mikey. While the storyline focuses on the everyday lives of John Stitt and Max Cameron and their struggle to survive high school, it does turn away and focus on the battles and adaptations of Hiro, Prince of Karuta, as he tries his best to understand and learn about life on Earth while, also, interacting, and having fun, with his host family and friends, especially with John and Max.Like the movie, you can see the people of South Port deal with the bizarre and chaotic, yet dramatic and serious, situations when other entities from the Metaverse, like Hiro, show up and either cause trouble or prevent trouble, or both!Despite a lot of differences from the movie, this series gives the creators and writers a chance to explore and show more of the "Exchange Student Zero" universe that the movie could ever do, featuring more characters, more situations, and more voice actors given the chance to star in such a marvelous project.
