Synopsis

Kate Reed is a firm believer that justice can always be found – even if it's not always in the courtroom. Once a lawyer at her family's esteemed San Francisco firm, Kate's frustration with the legal system led her to a new career as a mediator. Thanks to her innate understanding of human nature, thorough legal knowledge, and wry sense of humor, Kate is a natural when it comes to dispute resolution. Except, it seems, when it comes to conflicts in her own life.

RavenGlamDVDCollector Started watching yesterday, I have both seasons on DVD, recent acquisition. It was the boxes that drew me in. I saw the box covers on seller sites as I was scouting for other titles. The name rhymes with BARELY LEGAL which is something else entirely! But with a girl that hot on the box cover you could get me to go for L.A. LAW even. I'm not into courtroom dramas, I think I've got GUILTY AS SIN in my collection, and DYNASTY spend ages in court. All this just to point out that the theme is not my kind of thing. But Sarah Shahi sure is. She is amazing, especially on the close-ups, when she cocks her head, those eyes, okay, you get the picture, pretty lady, very likable character. The world needs mediators. And the world needs more Sarah Shahis.I appreciate that the main antagonist, the stepmother boss, is not a cardboard character. In fact, I cannot fault her. It's a much better approach than a cold villainess type.I'm not too thrilled about being up to my ears in lawyers for the next few weeks, but with S.S. to watch, fine, fine.Put another way, if it wasn't such a pretty lady, I wouldn't have been here.
lacey_bacastro This is one awful show. I can't imagine anyone that knows anything about law liking poorly written and acted show. The show misses on so many other marks as well and really seems juvenile. Why is the writing so cliché'? I would give a zero but seems its not an option. She is a mediator not a defense attorney not a prosecutor so why does she take sides. The first season was really bad but I watched it just so I could laugh at the writing and acting with my sister. This second season is too terrible and painful for us to watch. We now watch Psych to laugh. I'd rather watch a black and white, silent movie staring Nicholas Cage and Kevin Costner, zzzzzz.
LynnieTM The problem Kate faces in each episode is nothing that really makes for exciting television--there is nothing about the plot that makes me need to see the next episode. The writing is cliché and gimmicky, but it's not terrible and every episode manages to have a good one liner. This sitcom is entertaining because Sarah Shahi is so incredibly talented-- she really brings Kate to life and is amazing to watch. She's the only reason I watch fairly legal every week. Regarding the supporting cast: Michael Trucco is a good actor but he's on for two seconds before he has to go attend to something or another-- it's a bit annoying because it would be great to see a bit more of him. Baron Vaughn is likable but I feel like he should be funnier--not sure if its his acting or the writing. Virginia Williams looks beautiful but she is a pretty one dimensional actor -- she can't really hold her own with Sarah Shahi and doesn't give her much to work with. Sarah needs a better show!!!
janzst At last a show that's story doesn't revolve around stereo typecasting, fashion and predictable plots! With a hint of "House" and a touch of "Life", Kate Reed has the strength of character, witticism and sexiness most women crave. Realistic, humanly flawed characters and relationships build a web of interaction for those looking for something different. The role of the mediator almost softens the blood thirsty image of the legal profession.Fairly Legal has introduced a new style of heroin that should be applauded with a return series despite criticism for her welcomed "out of the box" approach.
