Disgusted by sarcastic, cynical, abusive, jaded, win-at-all-costs/the ends justifies the means cops? Bored by angst ridden teen werewolves and vampires? Too smart for "reality" TV?Ghost Whisperer is a wonderful departure from the above. The cast is a joy to watch and the episodes are thoughtful, imaginative, well scripted, paced and staged. There is no violence just for the sake of violence, no over the top/prolonged scenes of explosions and torture. The series does not favor/advocate any religion. Instead, a sense of deep spirituality seems to be the guiding principle of the series. It is refreshing to see positive main and guest characters as people who genuinely care about others and who can open their minds to new possibilities and situations. What I like most about the series is the simple yet complex sense of optimism it leaves one with after watching, a welcome relief to the most other American TV. It is just plain fun to be entertained on a higher level than the low-brow approach taken by so many "serious drama" series to attract the most viewers. Ghost Whisperer is quality entertainment suitable for all ages. I only wish it was still in production.Spend a weekend with this series on DVD. You will not be disappointed.

i like how there is romance and history and antiques but also a moralistic aspect to the show, and a message of life after death, good triumphing over evil and overall compassion. I also like the clothes that Jennifer wears throughout..gorgeous lacy long cardigans, low-cut but not too slinky blouses. She maintains a sense of calm composure, serenity and spirituality the whole time. The series really makes you think about deep psychological, family and spiritual issues and to not be ashamed to talk about them and bring them out to the forefront. I purchased the season one at a half-price bookstore not knowing if I would like the show or not but I really did enjoy it. I like psychic stuff and this fit the bill!

When this show first aired, always meant to tune in after I saw the first few promos, but I kept forgetting, but a few months ago, as I was flipping through channels, I noticed that that it was airing on WEtv and ION TV and decided to check it out.I started watching with a completely open mind and was pleasantly surprised that the show was actually pretty interesting. I watch whenever I am able to. For those other men (I almost dismissed this as a chick flick-type show too), I have to say that you should give this show a chance and if the story lines are not appealing to you, Jennifer Love Hewitt is attractive enough to keep you interested and is definitely not a negative for the show. As a matter of fact, I think that she may be the best actress the job.I give this show 9 stars out of 10 because some episodes of the series make it obvious that they are running out of ideas but I am willing to watch it when ever I channel surf.

And so it ends, and what an ending. Melinda must deal with a veritable army of ghost children haunting the local hospital. The series finale was a shameless knockoff of the SILENT HILL movie, but for a G-rated show oriented to female viewers, it still worked. In its prime, GW was must-see TV. Some episodes were scary, some were creepy and some were downright weepy. For the most part, they worked. The show took a wrong turn, however, when Melinda's husband dies and is immediately resurrected in another man's body (what was that all about, a salary dispute, perhaps?). Then Jay Mohr as Melinda's college prof buddy left the show and was replaced by Jamie Kennedy, Hewitt's beau at the time. He was a poor substitute for Mohr, and the show then went from bad to worse with the introduction of a child actor playing Melinda's son. If you stick to the first two or three seasons, you will see GW at its best.
