Shady promoter Maximillian Spiel entertains wealthy ticket holders with a series of “cage matches” between giant mutations like the Shrewster and the Giant Centipede. For his next bout, Spiel sets his sights on the “ultimate monster”… Godzilla.

EP3 S.C.A.L.E. Oct 02, 1999

In Miami, Godzilla, H.E.A.T., and Major Hicks battle Skeetera, a mutated bloodsucking mosquito-like insect who adapts the powers of the creatures she feeds on. As they attempt to contain the creature they are interrupted by the mutation rights fringe group known as S.C.A.L.E. (Servants of Creatures Arriving Late to Earth).

EP4 Protector Oct 09, 1999

On the Arabian Peninsula, a team of archeologists led by Professor Abrim Kasam unearth an ancient statue of the flying lion Norzzug, the guardian of the ancient city of Amon-Ra. When restoration specialists spray the statue with an anti-oxidant solution, the iron-skinned creature suddenly comes to life.

EP5 Freak Show Dec 11, 1999

A traveling carnival arrives at Madison Square Garden, and it's run by a crooked ringmaster known as Theodore P. Bunkum, who specializes in putting various captured mutations on display for public amusement. Bunkum places a hefty bounty on Godzilla, determined to add this most famous mutation to his carnival side show, and this incites H.E.A.T. to attend one of his shows, where they are quickly appalled by his treatment of the various mutations featured in it.

While on a romantic cruise in Alaska, Nick and Audrey’s ship is attacked by a Giant Turtle.

EP7 What a Long, Strange Trip It's Been Jan 15, 2000

A new and deadly mutation, a plant-like creature known as Bacillus (who may have been inspired by Biollante), appears and begins wreaking havoc, prompting H.E.A.T. to call upon Godzilla. During the battle, Godzilla is seriously injured and rendered catatonic as the result of being injected with a highly dangerous form of mutated bacteria by Bacillus. In order to save their kaiju ally, Tatopoulos and Monique travel within Godzilla's body in order to carefully exterminate all of the mutant bacterium. Now fully healed, Godzilla attacks Bacillus anew, and eradicates the creature with his incendiary breath.

EP8 Wedding Bells Blew Jan 22, 2000

Elsie is suffering from a family problem of a personal nature, along the lines of sibling rivalry: her sister's wedding is soon to take place, and she is chagrined due to the disproportionate amount of attention and familial adoration that her sister has received in contrast to her. Further, she feels that her family has little respect for her choosen vocation, i.e., her activities with H.E.A.T. [that must be quite a hard family indeed to show a lack of appreciation for a daughter who has routinely risked life and limb for her planet by investigating and battling dangerous, life threatening giant monsters, and even helping to thwart an alien invasion! Her sister must truly be the world's most talented ass-kisser].

EP9 Metamorphosis Jan 29, 2000

H.E.A.T. investigates a gigantic caterpillar-like mutation known as the Megapede, who is rampaging through the neighbor states of Illinois and Indiana. Godzilla is called upon to render assistance, but the Megapede sprays a form of poisonous foam, and also has poison producing spurs along its many legs, both of which serve to keep the Kaiju King at bay. The mega-insect finally climbs atop a building, forms a cocoon, and transforms into a huge winged insectoid creature with the habit of disrupting radar frequencies by rubbing its wings together, thus wreaking much havoc. H.E.A.T. concocts a poison neutralizing foam, which it spreads on the kaiju's wings, allowing Godzilla to attack and defeat the creature more easily.

H.E.A.T. investigates the legendary “Area 51” in Nevada and discovers its true secret is not alien landings, but giant mutated desert creatures created by decades of underground nuclear testing.

EP11 The Twister Feb 12, 2000

H.E.A.T. tackles a gigantic mutant shrew-like creature, which has somehow merged itself with an artificially generated, experimental tornado, enabling it to transform itself into a living vortex at will (Elsie wittily dubs the whirling beast 'The Shrewster'). In order to maintain its ultra-fast, whirlwind powers, the Shrewster is forced to rapidly consume three times its body weight per day, thus causing it to greedily devour every organic food source in its path, effectively making it an extremely dangerous menace. Because of its ability to transform itself into an organic tornado, Godzilla is unable to get at the beast, and Tatopoulos ends up trapped in the Shrewster's vortex. However, soon after becoming trapped, he activates a device that Craven crafted, which was designed to dissipate the vortex's cyclonic forces, and this succeeds.

EP12 Shafted Feb 19, 2000

While conducting another creature investigation in the valley of Blind Rock, Wyoming, H.E.A.T. meets up with a girl whose brother went missing after he entered an abandoned mine in the area where the sightings took place. Upon entering the mine themselves, the group discovers one of the strangest mutations they have yet encountered, a huge two-headed kaiju known as the Silver Hydra, on account of the fact that it has the ability to spurt a silvery fluid that hardens once it surrounds a living being, thus transforming them into the equivalent of a silver statue, a fate that obviously befell the girl's brother.

EP13 Where Is Thy Sting? Feb 26, 2000

Both H.E.A.T. and Major Hicks learn that an old comrade of the Major named Colonel Charles Thompson has been overseeing black ops military funded scientific experiments designed to create enormous, genetically altered scorpions for use as bio-weapons, in a multi-level program referred to as the First Wave. The largest scorpion produced by this experiment, however, breaks loose from the military's control, forcing H.E.A.T. to send Godzilla after the arachnoid beast. However, Godzilla is given supreme opposition, not only from the beast's lethal stinger, but also from its ability to spray poison at a distance from that aforementioned stinger. Finally, H.E.A.T. works together to discover a way to cause the more easily-controlled smaller scorpions to attack the larger one, after which Godzilla annhiliates the entirety of the First Wave with his incendiary breath. EP14 Lizard Season Mar 11, 2000

Cameron Winter returns to take yet another shot at H.E.A.T. and Godzilla, this time enlisting the aid of the three redneck, would-be-killers of the Big G from the previous episode ""Cat and Mouse,"" and equipping them with powerful machines of destruction (sometimes referred to as 'Battle Mechs'--another thank you to Doc Psy from Centropoholics:). Godzilla, H.E.A.T., and a military unit commanded by Major Hicks battle the machines and destroy them, and the three violent hicks are arrested.

EP15 Vision Mar 18, 2000

Another new and dangerous mutant species appears on the scene, this time in the form of gigantic hummingbirds that attack planes flying over San Francisco. Worst of all, this mutant avian species is able to render themselves invisible via the hummingbird trait of flapping their wings faster than any other bird species in the world. As a result of their ability to cloak themselves so as to be invisible to the unaided eye, Godzilla is unable to see the creatures in order to attack them.

EP16 Underground Movement Apr 01, 2000

During its latest creature investigations, H.E.A.T. splits up into two teams, one of which investigates a group of mutant parasitic organisms in Florida, whereas the second group handles a case of a giant, mutated, and rapidly growing multi-tentacled fungi-like creature in Michigan.

EP17 Ring of Fire Apr 22, 2000

As a result of an oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico exploding, a mutant seemingly composed of living fire emerges. As this creature goes on a rampage in the area looking for more combustible substances upon which to feed, H.E.A.T and Godzilla intervene. However, the creature grows larger and more powerful as a result of absorbing and feeding off of Godzilla's powerful incendiary breath.

xamtaro Godzilla the seriesPicking off moments from the end of the 1998 GODZILLA movie, Dr Nick Tatopolus discovers and befriends the last remaining baby Zilla. It imprints on Nick as his parent but is chased away when the military comes calling. Baby Zilla soon grows to full size and although he displays an undying loyalty to Nick, Nick can no longer hide it. While the army is hell bent on exterminating this beast, new monstrous behemoths start to emerge across the world, some the result of mutation, some ancient, others extraterrestrial. Teaming up with former co-scientists Elsie and Craven, along with mysterious French secret agent Monique, Nick forms the H.E.A.T team aiming to track down these giant creatures for scientific purposes before the military blows them apart. But not all these monsters are friendly, and that's where the now adult Godzilla comes in to take them down. Clearly inspired by the Showa era of heroic Godzilla movies, as well as the Hannah Barbara GODZILLA power hour cartoon, Godzilla the series ranks among the better animated shows based on movies. It is arguably better than the movie itself, returning a generic giant monster premise to its Japanese roots. Where most animated adaptations/continuations dumb down the story (see Robocop, Rambo, Star Wars Droids), this shows ups the ante in action, scale and enjoyment. The plots could be a tad formulaic: new threat shows itself, H.E.A.T team investigates, gets into trouble, Godzilla helps, monster attacks, fights Godzilla who may or may not be evenly matched, godzilla ultimately wins thanks to its own cunning or human assistance. Thankfully, the execution is too notch. For a start, the characters are well written with snappy dialogue and good chemistry among the voice actors. There are hints of character development across the series. They start off one dimensional but as episodes go along, they change slowly, subtly adding depth to their personalities. For example, Nick outgrows his geeky personality into a confident action leader type by the second season.On the production side, Godzilla the series looks quite good for a 1999 animated show. Animated by korean studio DR Movie, this show displays a good balance of art detail and animation fluidity. Shadows are consistent, clothing show folds; only the backgrounds come across a little half baked. The backgrounds are flatly colored with the odd scene looking a tad unfinished. Though the character designs may also take some getting used to, coming across like Rugrats mixed with bad early 90s Japanese anime, the monster designs are marvelous. You can tell that most time and effort went into the monsters themselves. They are drawn with an insane level of expertise and animated very smoothly.Fans agree that this series is what many wished the 1998 Godzilla remake delivered. It is not shy to delve into darker territory, such as the acclaimed "monster wars" 3 part saga, and manages to balance a coherent plot with some timely humor. (Poor N.I.G.E.L). Initially only selected episodes were released on DVD. But now, A complete series DVD set has been released to coincide with the 2014 GODZILLA movie from legendary studios. The late 90s and early 2000s was a new renaissance for American animation, with GODZILLA THE SERIES right there among the best.

noise_pollution1618 I saw this cartoon rerun in Zurich (where i live), and I could not believe my eyes! The movie back in '98 made me disappointed, a. for having one monster fighting off a military (people don't come to see a monster fighting just the military, they want monsters fighting each other) and b. because they were trying too hard to be like Jurassic park at the end.But this takes a completely different approach. The last baby of the Godzilla movie considers Nick (the main character) his "father", so whenever some ugly creature starts rampaging around New York (the enemy monsters can also be very well designed), so Godzilla comes and pretty much makes sure they can never touch New York again. He has the same design from the movie, and he can finally shoot fire from his mouth and is a lot more nimble. Godzilla fans rejoice.

Movie Nuttball I am a huge Godzilla fan, I grew up with Godzilla, I just love seeing this awesome monster just destroy cities and fighting other monsters. I like his enemies as well but Godzilla is the Icon! This is really an awesome animated series! I you know, I am a huge Godzilla fan and though I wasn't complete pleased with Godzilla 1998 there were things I did like how he looked, his personality and such but he wasn't the indestructible monster that we all know and that is what I didn't like about the film and how he died. It would have been one of the greatest films of the century if he would have been immortal. But neither is he in the cartoon though he does fight other monsters and the people understand he more. People who love Godzilla's trademark roar will be happy to know he roars through out the series! Another thing I like about this cartoon series is he even has he other roar he does in the US movie. All of his characteristics are captured here from the 1998 film as well. Kevin Dunn reprises his Major Hicks role again only this time he is animated and Joe Pantoliano is in it so those are nice treats! All of the animated characters are great! The animation is very crisp, clean and very beautiful and I love the intros! In short and in My opinion, this is what the the United States 1998 Godzilla film should have been!

crazy-22 I highly recommend Godzilla: The Series to anyone who enjoys well written stories, great monsters and characters you can really root for. The stories are imaginative and filled with Fil Barlow's fantastic creature creations. A big plus is the inclusion of strong female characters. Monique Dupre, Elsie Chapman and even Audrey Timmonds are brave, intelligent and capable.The underlying relationships of the characters are often what makes the show such fun: Randy Hernandez' endless quest to impress Monique, his teasing friendship with Mendel Craven, and Mendel's quiet longing for the oblivious Elsie truly hooked me on the show. Characters are also multi-dimensional and capable of change. Mendel is often used as comic relief, but his creative genius often saves the day and he can be selflessly heroic should the need arise.Check Godzilla: The Series out. You won't be sorry.
