It's not The Simpsons, it's not Archer but Unsupervised is a show with memorable characters and quotable moments. It's a show where you have to pay attention to the banter between the characters to understand the humor, there's not really any physical comedy. Most of what I found funny about the show was how naive the characters were (being 15, it's expected of them). The two main characters, Joel and Gary, come come from very sad homes. Joel has a 40 year old, drug addict brother and two parents in their 60s or 70s. Gary's dad left when he was very young and only has an apathetic stepmom to take care of him. Despite this, the two are optimistic about life. Most episodes involve Gary and Joel discovering something they don't like (they're too young to give blood, no one respects local firefighters) and try to fix this in their own way (such as getting fake IDs to give blood or setting fires to buildings to make the firemen seem important).Unfortunately, the show is very short, only 13 episodes. Because of this, however, every episode is special and will mean something to the viewer.

I think this show is wonderful. I am a big fan of Justin Long and Kristen Bell and also a fan of "Archer" and "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia." I couldn't believe when I read all the negative reviews. The animation goes great with the shows premise and I find the show to be hilarious as well as easy to watch again. The shows satirist view on inner city youth is not only funny, but shines a light on a real issue, "unsupervised" teenagers growing up in the city. Being from the city myself, I enjoy the shows graffiti-ish animation. I look forward to a second and hopefully many seasons to come. I will be disappointed if the show is snubbed for it's "off beat style of comedy" and is canceled due to lack of popularity.

So if you have read the other reviews, you can tell that this is one of those "either you love it or hate" shows. I enjoy it immensely although it is not without its shortcomings. Pros: The two main characters are naive and incredibly likable. The voice acting is superb, the secondary characters are solid as well. The stories themselves are original, humorous, and lighthearted; as are the jokes. Cons: It takes some time getting used to the characters and their situations. The plot sometimes either takes too long to develop or it never fully matures. You can't make a judgement on just watching one episode and it takes a few viewings to get into the story. I did not add this show to my DVR recordings until after 4 episodes. I would like to see how the characters develop in the future.

I don't right reviews, ever. But this show has gotten some bad press. The comparison to Bevis and Butthead is short. This is like B&B if they had actual personalities. And the west PA accent on Joel is awesome. The dialog is fantastic. I don't see how any of that is like B&B. I don't right reviews, ever. But this show has gotten some bad press.
