niharikasinha Each and every episode (except for the last season) has a gripping plot. Starting from the very first episode, I was hooked on to the show. It did not take me long to complete the entire series. It definitely is one of the most mind-blowing shows I have seen so far, especially with its fabulous story line. The actors have done a brilliant job and done the characters complete justice. The well plotted twists will leave you mind boggled. I loved the first 7 seasons. The last season is a little slow and somehow fails to match up to the previous seasons' pace. Nevertheless, it was fantastic experience!
bchan1218 Well, I've just watched the first episode: I hated it. No problem with the pot selling Mary Louise Parkers character is selling, I assume it's to supplement her income. Its the language and situations that bother me. I can't imagine a parent, in real life, would want their kid in a TV series or a movie where they are part of the discussion of sex and the language discussing the sex. Oh, the money, even worse. Parkers character catches her son and girlfriend in bed and uses the F word to describe what they're up to! And Elizabeth Perkins uses the C word referring to her daughter. I am not a prude, I watch Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones, gratuitous sex and nudity galore but there are no child actors dragged into the action. I will not be watching another episode. And people wonder what's wrong with our society, our youth, just watch TV.
SnoopyStyle Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker) is trying to maintain her suburban life after the death of her husband and pay for her housekeeper Lupita. Her oldest son Silas (Hunter Parrish) is rebellious and her younger son Shane (Alexander Gould) is weird. She's dealing weed and her biggest customer is her unscrupulous accountant Doug Wilson (Kevin Nealon). Her brother-in-law Andy (Justin Kirk) is supposedly helping her. Her neighbor Celia Hodes (Elizabeth Perkins) is nosy. Celia has long suffering husband Dean (Andy Milder) and willful daughter Isabelle Hodes (Allie Grant). (There's also another daughter.) Nancy struggles against the law, other growers, dealers, gangsters, Mexican cartel and anyone else as she discovers that she's actually a great drug dealer. This is a great mix of characters in a fun twist on the American dream. It's 'Breaking Bad' except wacky and sexy. I love Kevin Nealon and Elizabeth Perkins but it's Mary-Louise Parker that makes the show what it is. She has a sly humorous side which makes her the best part of Red. The dark humor of the show is a perfect fit for her.
David Schwartz The first two-three series were OK, funny and entertaining. After a while the story kept changing drastically and lost the original style I enjoyed. the main character started bothering me with her bad chooses which leaded her family to constantly run from something and leave everything behind. While she shows an unconditional love for her sons, she seems not to care for the consequences of her mistakes on them. It's also quite annoying how she/they always get out of terrible situations because of the unrealistic behavior of all other characters, for example member of the Mexican drug cartel acting like fools and letting her mess with their business. If you are looking for a surrogate to breaking bad this is absolute not it. If you want a comedy, not too elaborate and sometimes disappointingly absurd weeds is probably OK.
