M MALIK i have always liked Hilary Duff since my school days i became a fan of her around 2006 or something if i remember correct in those same years Amanda Bynes & other actress who worked with Disney company were on top there was no sign of Miley Cyrus anywhere in the world also vulgarity was not widely spread Hilary's sister Hailey duff is also a great actress i have seen few of her horror films but Hilary is a icon.all these actresses i am talking about here gave some of the nicest films ever in their careers as for Hilary this one also happens to be a decent one quite much better then most stupid big budget romance films out there this is a TV movie not theatrical and it is worth watching.people and critics just love to hate everything they saw the name Hilary Duff attached to it there we go the bashing starts for no reason at least see the film and good points before you analyze only to Dis it.well i will be honest here i was in for this just for Hilary Duff frankly speaking she never disappoints even if the script is lame her performance speaks for itself despite the fact that she did these type of roles before one can't hate her for being repetitive but love her even more i have to same the camera loves her every time she enters the frame.beauty and the briefcase is no Devil Wears Prada but damn enjoyable for what it is can be classified in usual Rom com but on the whole it is very different balanced its got both business & fashion mixed in.Plot:the story is about Lane a young writer who wants to make big in the world soon after going undercover at a finance company as a assistant looking for her scoop on how to have dating in a office so she can sell her story to a fashion magazine lane just mashes up her personal and professional life too much now what will happen will she get caught or come out as a winner the answer is in this film.the cast:entire cast is wasted wish the lead guys could have been better but the highlight of this film is Hilary Duff she is so beautiful and stunning here each dress she was wearing looked superb on her i mean forget the story and everything i was only looking at her the time just flew by so fast Hilary kept me hooked.Few things wrong:the story is not believable at all Liam was a much better guy for Lane if only he was not a liar now being a waiter is not a bad thing he was hiding Liam was greater then tom the lame dumb boss who looks more like a playboy or a clothing model then a businessman.Overall Beauty & The Briefcase 2010 is a good film for everyone not for kids though my rating is 6/10.Recommended
clanhamato Well. Let's see. Can I start by asking the question: Who the heck is this movie supposed to be for? It might have worked as a family film for its simple, contrived plot that could never happen and doesn't make any sense whatsoever. But that doesn't work because of the sexual content and swearing. Or it might have worked as a fun, romantic comedy for general movie audiences. But that doesn't work because of the simple, contrived plot that could never happen and doesn't make sense. It's actually generally insulting to general movie audiences. In general.Oh, man. From start to finish. This one's got it all. Terrible dialog, shallow, one-dimensional characters, gratuitous use of narration, slow, ridiculous exposition, and enough awkward moments to make you glance at the person next to you with eyebrows raised and going "WHAT?" or "SERIOUSLY?" every other minute. I would even be willing to forgive all of that. All of it. If they'd given us a character we could root for. Hilary Duff is pretty. But in this movie, she plays someone who is a shallow, petty, superficial LIAR that--for some reason--everyone just LOVES. She does no work to get to where she is (a job she lies to get, is in no way qualified to do, and repeatedly fails at) but, because the plot calls for it, suddenly she's the one saving the day and being inexplicably skilled at solving problems she would have no knowledge of how to solve (her "solutions" are absurd by the way). She was jealous from the get go, even of her friends. Self- absorbed. Cared for no one. Expected all men and the universe to grant her her desires of whatever the heck she thought love was--because she thought she deserved it. It's actually pretty disturbing and disappointing for all of mankind that anyone thought this character was someone audiences could really get behind. I kind of wanted to call her parents or something. And shoot. I'm only twenty four. Whatever. It was frustrating. And abysmal. And, in its own teeth- grinding way, hilarious (accidentally of course). I mean, I didn't think I'd ever say this, but if you're looking for something of better quality, go to the Hallmark Channel. For crying out loud. You will literally find films of better quality than this little piece on the Hallmark Channel during any season at any time of day or night. Or, really, go watch any segment of Sesame Street. I have seen more drama, meaning, depth of character, and believability on Sesame Street. In the 90s. When I was a small child.
donnachenn I read many negative reviews on the movie it's self and the actress Hilary Duff. But in all honest, these are the kind of movies i like and everyone is entitled to their own opinions but thats just their opinion- they just don't like this movie. I like this movie and i love how Hilary Duff acts, in fact, i want her in more movies like these. This movie was a breathe of fresh air, it's funny and romantic = romantic comedy = perfection. I saw the comments on this movie and one of them said something like "you've got to be kidding" etc. I kept that in mind while watching the movie and i have to say that the person writing that comment doesn't know what he/she is talking about. Before you judge this movie, you've got to at least "test" and watch it before bashing on it. you can't make the audiences believe that its a bad movie, because some audience such as i, like this movie. The movie was nice, sweet, nothing extravagant just a little romantic comedy.. it's simple, if you are the kind of people that want action, i guess this isn't the movie for you. Plot was somewhat good, the acting was fair, and there were many good looking people (Which you always want in a romantic comedy), as well as most important of all it had a good and happy ending. -It's heart warming. Way better than i expect by the looks of the comments and rating. I absolutely have no idea why people wrote all these bad things about the movie. Why be so critic and not enjoy the movie as a whole and it's own self. Just sit back, enjoy the movie and stop being such a harsh critic, that it doesn't let you enjoy movies. But the only thing i don't understand is that, doesn't Tom have a girlfriend...?? Anyone want to answer to my question aha.Definitely will watch this again on my spare time, and in my opinion; it was a great movie.
davis-m-chambers This movie is an abomination to every aspect of filmmaking and culture. Hilary Duff is about as exciting as watching paint dry. The writing is so heinously bad. Quite literally the most offensive depiction of women ever printed to film. One would be better served watching a solar eclipse.Below are activities that would be better than watching this flick: + Clawing your eyes out + Combing your hair for two hours + Receiving the Clockwork Orange violence rehabilitation treatment + Eating a prickly cactus + Dying by fire + Dying by falling off a huge building + Dying + Ignoring a painful hangnail while cutting citrus fruit + Knocking your teeth out with a hammer
