jeff-2051 When I see "expert" reviewers rate a really good storyline so low, all I think about is the fact that 99.9% have NEVER created anything of their own. This is a fine film. Perhaps the premise has been used before, but it is more than a worthy viewing experience.
A I won't say nothing new in this review, everything you need to know is written in other top reviews. I am writing this just to say that this movie is seriously good. It should be ~7.5 in overall imdb rating, it's that good as a dramedy, top notch quality in filmography, beautifully shot. Very good acting, especially Addison Timlin was simply outstanding, she created one of the most compelling characters I ever seen in cinema. This movie is not comedy, it's about 80% of drama, however the drama is not heavy/dark, it's sad but compelling and uplifting, plus some quirky(in a good way) comedy lightens the mood successfully. Watch it, you'll not regret this.
capcashmere I only borrowed this because it was a free rental. I really expected a lame comedy wedding flick and to just watch ten minutes and switch it off. Very pleasant surprise. This is a drama, and it's definitely not about a wedding, though the couple have just married. Instead, it's about relationships and several dysfunctional people and how well you really know the people.in your life. It's nicely done and looks beautiful, set in the snow. Cast are all good too. Well worth a look. I'm surprised by the low rating. I guess maybe others were disappointed it's not a wedding movie as such.
Sarah Everett Do you remember in English class when the teacher would ask you "What is the author's purpose?"; is it to entertain, give information, tell an important story, teach a moral? I think this film seemed to lack an author's purpose. There is no doubt that it is well done and has a great cast. The characters are interesting and the plot could be funny and moving if it just had a purpose. It just feels like a story. "We did this, and then this happened, and then they all lived happily ever after." I'm not saying I didn't enjoy it, but I just didn't get anything out of it. There wasn't a moral or a lesson to be learned from it. There was some real potential there. They could've had a very well set up comedy, or a thoughtful romance but instead it just felt like a flat drama with no end game. It sad really. I was expecting more from it.
