avi-greene2 I deny the existence of this horrible direct-to-video movie, so please DO NOT WATCH IT AT ALL because it'll only ruin your memory of other Land Before Time movies such as the original. I first heard of this movie when I was a kid, and whenever I would watch it I would always turn it off in the middle of the movie because I was bored and crying about this bad film. However, I was able to watch this whole movie when I was in high school a couple of times because I was then old enough to appreciate the film for the characters and story line of when they have to save an egg from being stolen by two greedy egg thieves, Ozzy and Strut who are dreadful and lousy villains.I'm in college right now, and all I can say about this Land Before Time sequel is that in every aspect, IT SUCKS! The songs are really cheesy and give me headaches such as "Peaceful Valley" and of course "Eggs". Not to mention the animation is ugly and all the voice acting is also really dreadful and painful, and this is definitely a movie that I believe should be extinct.Pass on this sequel, and if you want to watch a Land Before Time film other than the original, go with either #6 "The Secret of Saurus Rock" or #7 "The Stone of Cold Fire". If you watch those two Land Before Time sequels closely, you'll notice that the theme to those movies is a big resemblance of that from Hayao Miyazaki's Japanese anime masterpiece, "Laputa: Castle in the Sky".To summarize my review, THIS MOVIE IS BAD so pretend it doesn't exist.
zsofikam I'm just going to say it now rather than later: I enjoy the Land Before Time sequels (with a couple of exceptions). The first of those sequels is The Great Valley Adventure and it's one of the ones that I like. I don't think it's as good as the first movie, which I regard as second only to The Secret NIMH as far as animated films, but I do think that The Great Valley Adventure is still allot of fun. One thing I will say is that while Cera has the same voice as in the first movie, Littlefoot and Ducky have different voices. Not that different, but different enough to be noticeable (especially in the case of the latter). Still, the new Ducky (Heather Hogan) is a worth replacement for Judith Barsi. The songs aren't the best Land Before Time songs (which in my opinion are to be found in The Stone Of Cold Fire), but they're still enjoyable. I especially like the song Eggs because of all the funny dialogue between Ozzie and Strut, who are hilarious even when not singing and play a big role in why Struthiomimus is ranked among my favourite dinosaurs. Chomper is just plain adorable and the animation, while not quite on the level of the original, is crisp and bright.
vip_ebriega My Take: Decent straight-to-video effort. Granted, sparks won't fly freely in the direct-to-video sequel THE LAND BEFORE TIME II: THE GREAT VALLEY ADVENTURE, but it's good enough to satisfy your kids hunger for fun. It's a film where you could just leave the kids and allow yourself to do something else. It's harmless, family movie, which, surprisingly, I found decent.Like all direct-to-video efforts, expect it to have a low-quality plot, weak characterizations and childish situations. But with all it's low shots, you can just look in your child's eyes and see how you rate the film. I remember watching this non-stop sequels over and over again when I was a kid, in other words, I was a big fan of all this stuff. But know, THE LAND BEFORE TIME II has dated badly. Now, I remember how inferior the new plot is to the original's plot. But, rating as a kid flick, it's something to keep the kids busy. It's a bit better than the other sequels that followed.By the end, upon seeing the eyes of the kids, you decide what rating you'll give to the film, but I give it, at least ***, a high rating for a film that isn't that good on quality. Nevertheless, it provides as much fine fun to kids and as decent enough as I remember.Video movie rating: *** out of 5.
Sparrow_in_flight Why doesn't the movie industry learn to leave a good thing alone? Why must they force out sequel after sequel (and each one is progressively worse)? It completely ruined the effect of the first movie when this and the sequels came out. The kids I baysit want to know why Littlefoot and the others don't sing in the first one, and keep pointing out where they think songs should go. I've had one kid insist they should redo the movie, since there are no songs. Really...singing dinosaurs? Why is this necessary?
