YellaVette This series is a wonderful delight, especially for female viewers. The characters are so engaging, you feel they are your friends almost instantly. The writers effortlessly draw you into the lives of these ladies, their struggles & their friendships. As the story develops, you find redeeming qualities in the "villains" which make you love them, too. The truth of women keeping the world turning during war while men were off fighting is romanticized a bit, but it is a good reminder that women were the key to the war effort. The only disappointment is that the series ended so soon. Just two seasons leaves you wanting more. They have created a movie in an effort to satisfy the demands of the audience. It aired in March of 2014, but at the time of this posting, is not yet available to watch online. You will not regret investing your time & heart into watching this one! But, you will be a bit heartbroken when you watch the final episode solely because you aren't ready to let go of your new-found friends. However, go immediately to find Land Girls to watch online, and this will help you overcome!
Steve Rapson Bomb Girls has the best scripts, direction, and cast of any Canadian TV show I've seen. Until I heard them mention cities in Canada I assumed it was from an American network. (and yes, most Canadian TV has poor production quality on all fronts)The characters are all so unique and intriguing (somewhat due to the place and time of the story) that each of their sub-plots just suck you right in. The story covers many topics I didn't know about the home-front in WWII.Each episode kept me hanging and when it was canceled I, along with many others, were outraged! They came back with a bang (or so I hear) by releasing a TV movie, allowing for some closure to the story. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT!
Glipp I loved this series. At first, I wasn't expecting too much - I was expecting some kind of Pan Am/Playboy Club Hybrid. But this was most definitely not the case. Every episode had me glued to my seat. Every actor plays his/her part to perfection! I Meg Tilly was perfect. Peter Outerbridge was perfect. They all were. All were in character from start to finish - and very interesting characters they were too. My only complaint is that the series was so short. I didn't want it to end so soon.Being a Canadian series, and not an American one, it is likely that there won't be a second Season. The final episode wasn't left open-ended for the possibility of ramping up profits by adding another Season.Although a man, I sometimes enjoy stories told from the female perspective a little more than from the male's. For this genre of story, I doubt that I am in the minority.
pol7416 MEG TILLY CAN ACT! She's always nailed the ditsy parts but it has been ages since we've seen her skills really stretched into a strong well- rounded role. As shift matron and a mother of two sons serving overseas, Ms Tilly brings a quiet mature strength that creates depth to her character. There are two incredible scenes in episode 1 where the emotions flutter cross her face and then shine through her eye.The ensemble cast are together and individually equally strong. Whether it is the gruff factory owner, the girls living in the rooming house or the young scared soldiers --the characters are multi-dimensional and well played. The production is grounded by a great script that hits all the right notes. Can't wait to see the rest!
