Synopsis

A young CIA operative, Annie Walker, is mysteriously summoned to headquarters for duty as a field operative. While Annie believes she's been promoted for her exceptional linguistic skills, there may be something or someone from her past that her CIA bosses are really after. Auggie Anderson is a CIA military intelligence agent who was blinded while on assignment and is Annie's guide in this world of bureaucracy, excitement and intrigue.

michael-k-hendrickson I avoided this show for a while, thinking it would be shallow or something, but I've been pleasantly surprised. I've just finished watching season 4, and the show has become progressively more intense. At the beginning, Annie is too naive and idealistic to be an effective spy. Numerous episodes in season 1 end with Annie having a heart-to-heart talk with her sweet older sister. But Annie finds that she can't compartmentalize her life. The writers wisely move the sister out of the show. At that point, the plots begin to intensify with a larger narrative connecting each episode. This is obviously a show that requires the viewer to give a great deal of artistic license. If you are able to do that, you will be rewarded with suspenseful story lines and a growing appreciation for some terrific characters. Annie becomes more realistic without losing her heart. Her handler, Auggie, has an incredible backstory that enriches his character. Her bosses, Joan and Arthur deal with the politics of the CIA in an intelligent manner. Joan is a particularly impressive character. She always remains poised despite intense pressure, and she never gives ground to those who attempt to intimidate her. There are other great characters as well, and my favorite by far is the Mossad operative named Eyal. The relationship between he and Annie becomes quite profound, as they come to the rescue for one another on numerous occasions. Season 3 is my favorite so far (still yet to watch season 5) because of Eyal's presence in numerous episodes. If you stick with the show to this point, you will be richly rewarded with some first rate television entertainment.
peterplucker Hi, perhaps it is part of her disguise but why would a very active spy put on very high heels when dressing in the morning? It just isn't plausible! She always ends up running somewhere which is downright dangerous in huge heels. Is this product placement gone mad?Otherwise the acting is pretty good and the story is plausible, so the tension is maintained - especially when things do not go as Annie (and the viewer) expect. Why are Annie's sister and family missing in the latest series? They provided a good "grounding" for Annie and a contrast to her spying world, and would have added another level to Annie's secret life off the grid for 6 months. Leaving them out of this series was a mistake.
ozkan-245-485265 I am really tired of TV shows and movies based on the prejudicial point of view that every Muslim is a potential terrorist. When will everybody realize that terrorism has no religion, or nationality... terrorists are terrorists no matter what their skin color is or their religious beliefs are. Media around the World is constantly running stories about Muslim terrorists 24/7 just to make believe that there are actually Muslim terrorists. I haven't heard anyone talking about a Christian terrorist when that crazy Norwegian killed dozens of people. Or after a school shooting in the US nobody is saying anything about a conservative Christian terrorist...cause there is no such thing... terrorism is terrorism. ..plain and simple... stop trying to make connections between religions and maniacs in order to justify your stupid foreign policy based on nothing but greed. Unfortunately every TV Show like this has a few episodes about Muslim terrorists.
Roeland Roovers I've seen all three series and am now watching series 4 unfold. Until this latest one I liked it very much. The main characters really go into their roles. With a good storyline to get you want to watch the next episode. In the fourth season the two main characters start dating each other. That takes too much of the nice storyline which you could see in the first three series. I will finish watching season four, but if those two don't break up soon I'm done with it. So be smart and just watch until the end of season three, the writers seem to have lost their ability to give the series a nice twist. If you quit after season three you will miss what happened to one of the main characters.
