Normally I don't really go for cop shows much as they tend to be fairly dry Procedurals that I think have little resemblance to real life. Michael Imperioli is notable in this representation of cop life in Detroit-which is probably the toughest town to be a cop in, in the entire USA. Dry wit makes this show work-and other producers of cop shows could take valuable lesson from the way they did these scripts. The cinematography is well done and keeps the show moving at a brisk pace. The shots are crisp and I think representational of what you would see doing such a job in a city like Detroit. The characters are believable and it isn't a 'whites only club' like Blue Bloods-which is dry as a paperweight by comparison. Too bad it only ran for only one season. My favorite aspect of the show was seeing all the different places in Detroit. It's not a city I know much about-thanks to the shows producers for the education.

When one looks for a good crime drama, they usually think CSI, Law and Order and such, but little are aware of what I, and many others, consider the best cop drama on TV, Detroit 1-8-7. With an all-star cast featuring James McDaniel of "NYPD Blue" fame and Michael Imperioli of "The Sopranos", Detroit 1-8-7 has the best cast of any cop show on TV. Even the amateurs such as Shaun Majumder and Jon Michael Hill bring strong performances. Aisha Hinds as well. The characters are believable and 3D. The setting adds to the realism. Detroit 1-8-7 is perhaps the grittiest show on TV. The show started off well and only got better as the show went on. I hope this show comes back for a second season because it would be a shame if it got canceled.

I love this show! I am a big fan of Michael Imperioli ever since he was on the Sopranos. I am also a fan of some of the newer talent on this show. I Tivo all shows and watch them again with my son who is also a huge fan. I hope this show gets picked up for a 2nd season. I love how the stories come together and how the characters interact with each other. I also love seeing Detroit cityscapes as well as Detroit landmarks. I am grateful also for the diversity the police department depicts on the show. The season finale was very well done, keeps me begging for more! I also appreciate the perspective of the senior members of the department and the perspective of the newer members of the department. Thanks for a job well done!

This show is fresh and very original, not another cookie cutter murder show and always the second suspect as the killer. Writers are terrific and the give the excellent cast some quality material, nice job how the story lines are interwoven. It's not just another cop drama, feels like real people with real life situations and problems to solve or resolve, including their own self conflicts. Every symbol, tool or character has a reason to be there. Characters are grounded and well thought out, compelling and we actually root for them, no mystery here, no hidden alcoholics or drug abuse by the show's cops (we've seen it so many times before). Even my 13 year old son has an interest in the show because of the good action and strong story arcs which actually make sense -- no sci-fi effects, these are people facing true crises and figuring it out. Refreshing, refreshing, refreshing! ABC you have a hit, let it mature some more, you'll win recognition for this -- reward your actors, writers and producers, with more episodes, they all deserve it! So does your growing audience.
