EP1 Pilot (1) Jun 21, 2002

The crew members of the Odyssey 5 space shuttle witness the explosion of Earth from an orbit far above. They are rescued by The Seeker and given the chance to save Earth. The Seeker sends them 5 years into the past to attempt to avert the destruction of the planet.

EP2 Pilot (2) Jun 21, 2002

The crew attempts to go back to their lives of five years prior to the destruction of the Earth, while also trying to begin their investigation.

EP3 The Shatterer Jun 28, 2002

The Odyssey 5 team tries to locate Professor Naran Chandra, an artificial life researcher who in the original timeline will commit suicide at a lecture 8 days from now, right in front of Kurt. Examining the files on Chandra's computer, they find that Chandra discovered a computer lifeform loose on the Internet that apparently evolved on its own from experiments in Chandra's lab and has now become "Sentient". Meanwhile, noting how mature and responsible his behavior has suddenly become, Neil's girlfriend Holly talks about taking their relationship to the next level. Sarah and Angela's investigation of the patients given "gene therapy" by Dr. Barantz leads them to discover some living tissue that appears to have been bio-manufactured in a chemical vat. Then, when they finally meet the frightened Dr. Chandra, the team discovers that one of his students is actually an inhuman creature made from this same nearly-indestructible tissue.

EP4 Astronaut Dreams Jul 05, 2002

NASA's Project Bright-Sky is accelerated due to Ed Scriven's death and, knowing that a next-generation version of the Bright Sky satellite is what Odyssey 5 was launching on the day Earth was destroyed, Taggart determines that he must put his career on the line to sabotage the deployment of the current version. Neil realizes he's falling in love again with his old high school girlfriend, Holly. Sarah and Angela use their knowledge of the future to try to stop the kidnapping and murder of a young girl, which was front-page news in the original timeline, only to find that their actions have changed the future unpredictably. Mendel, determining that an organism comprised of the mysterious artificial tissue would be cold-blooded, assembles a thermal imaging system that will distinguish humans from the "Synthetics".

EP5 Time Out of Mind Jul 12, 2002

In his continuing unsuccessful quest to make a huge amount of money from his knowledge of the future, Kurt marries a young woman who is destined to be a big star in the music world 5 years hence, but whose music is currently unpopular. Then, one by one, the Odyssey 5 members start losing their future memories. In desperation, Taggart and Mendel consult a theoretical physicist who is lecturing at a local science fiction convention, pretending that they need help with the science in a time-travel novel they are working on. But all they are able to determine is that each victim has the urge to type a bunch of weird symbols on a computer screen just before losing their memories of the next 5 years. Finally, Mendel is the lone survivor. As if stuggling with his new marriage wasn't trouble enough, if his memory goes before he can figure out what is going on, there will be no one left to save the earth from ultimate destruction.

EP6 Symbiosis Jul 19, 2002

When a top prosthetics researcher is found dead, Neil receives an anonymous e-mail telling him that the man was murdered by the "Synthetics" whose existence the Odyssey 5 group has discovered, which it says are the physical manifestations of Dr. Chandra's "Sentients". It claims that they are now after the researcher's six-year-old niece Stevie, all because of a ""cybiotic interface"" he was working on which would allow computer technology to control organic systems. Visitng Stevie's teacher, they find out that she is deaf and received a cochlear implant, which her uncle had been tinkering with. Eventually, the team locates Stevie and finds out that her implant allows her brain to control a swarm of insects that have been fitted with cybiotic interface chips. But mysterious figures who may be Synthetics have relentlessly tracked Stevie to Kurt's place.

EP7 The Choices We Make Jul 26, 2002

A mysterious being, who is not bound by time, notes that the Odyssey crew have jumped out of their proper time and comes to investigate them. It probes their minds and forces them to re-visit the personal choices they made in the most important moments of their past lives.

EP8 Rapture Aug 02, 2002

Neil's friends at school are taking a new drug called "Rapture", which appears to boost their intelligence and may even promote telepathy and telekinesis. Neil finds out that his friend Deckard got the formula for the drug from a web site, but in his attempt to get a sample for analysis he is forced to take the drug. Meanwhile, Taggart's new boss Cynthia Hodge suggests that he had something to do with sabotaging the last space mission, but appears to be happy that the mission failure has hastened the day when manned space flights will be replaced by totally robotic ones. A retired astronaut, Leyton Scott, tells Taggart that a group called "the Cadre" have been trying for the last 20 years to get rid of manned space flight. But then Leyton reveals that he is dying from "Moon Sickness", a strange disease that strikes only Apollo astronauts, which may have something to do with their having brought more than just rocks back with them from the Moon. Because of Angela's apparent mental br

EP9 L.D.U.7 Aug 09, 2002

Taggart, Mendel and Sarah visit a privately operated Maximum Security Prison hoping to find a clue to locating a powerful, dangerous Sentient. They ultimately find themselves trapped within a Synthetic and it's a race to the death.

EP10 Flux Aug 16, 2002

The Odyssey crew scramble to save the life of Angela's father, Senator Perry, when he's threatened by a terrifying new breed of Synthetic. Paige deals with her emotions after learning the truth about the Odyssey mission.

EP15 Begotten Oct 01, 2004

With the still-grieving Chuck having taken off on a road trip, the rest of the crew have to deal with the synthetic that Kurt has created.

EP16 Vanishing Point Oct 01, 2004

When Taggart wakes up in a hospital with Paige beside him, he begins to believe that the destruction of the world may have been a dream. What he doesn't know is that it is all a ruse by Dr. Bertran, who is trying to stall his activities long enough to download information from his brain.

Joshua Lawrence Pike Odyssey Five is a sadly short lived series (just one season). It starts on the space shuttle, then suddenly the earth is destroyed (sort of implodes). Just when they are running out of air a large aliens ship appears. The alien tells them that they are far from the first that had their planet imploded, he has spent centuries going from one system to another. He detects radio waves, then by the time he gets there the planet is gone. This included his home. However there is hope, he can send their minds back, five years back in time. He knows nothing about what is causing it (and one of the five people still alive is dying so time is short) He sends their minds five years back in time, with little more then the bare knowledge of what will happen. While it was rough in spots, the show had interesting plot lines, and interesting characters. There very much is a fish out of water element. Three astronauts, a science writer, and a reporter are not the group you would pick to investigate aliens destroying the earth. That is not the say they are not capable, they are, but they very have to make it up as they go.Its very good, if you like sci-fi you will like this.www.JoshuaLawrencePike.com
Leigh1566 I've only just watched this series after being told by my "elder" "less science fiction" fan friends not to, and I really think this series so deserves at least another season. Why start with the fantastic episode of seeing the earth explode and the idea of going back to prevent it from devastation, and end without answering it? OK I agree that there may have been moments during the season when you thought the story was off the point, and that the Odyssey 5's personal stories got in the way of what we wanted to see. And I agree that they certainly made a few continuity/paradoxical errors along the way, but as a whole I think it kept people wanting to know more. And certainly in the 20th episode (fossil), the revelation that the Cardrai are actually trying to use the "Bright Sky" project to beat the Centrients surely redeems the show. If only to see Tamara Craig Thomas again!! Come on Peter Weller and Manny Coto, you have a large following that wants more :) If I had the money I'd produce and direct it myself!! (Sorry if I spelt Cardrai and Centrients wrong, but they looked right to me) :)
liberalgems This is absolutely one of the best series I have ever seen in my 40+ years of watching television! It's obvious why the executives at Showtime panicked: The series was way too subversive for a politically conservative medium like cable t.v.! The political and philosophical statements Odyssey 5 were literally making in each episode were just too much for the spineless creatures that rule the cable airwaves! My favorite genre is science fiction & fantasy. I have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly over the years. Nothing, except for Star Trek, Farscape and Babylon 5 comes close to the genius and passion of Odyssey 5! I can think of few television series where I cared so much for each main character, or the extensive range of emotions felt. The series was like theater! There's no other way to describe it! Had those responsible at Showtime kept Corporate at bay, instead of canceling the series literally in mid-sentence, the eventual controversy Odyssey 5 might have generated would've been good for business! The only drawback the series had was the importance of watching each episode in sequence. But with all the recording technology now available, this minor obstacle would not have been very difficult to overcome! The loss to science fiction was incalculable by the obnoxious cancellation of this unique series. Perhaps, someone soon will have the courage to pick up the pieces and write a book, or make a movie, and finish the series with the same amount of passion and subversiveness as the creators of Odyssey 5 did! One can only hope!
nrotic What happened to this series? Why did it die, great characters , great stories, I recently watched the 5 disc series with a friend of mine and I agree with the other comments. I liked the cast they all had their substories and their interactions, demons, etc.. I thought the casting agent did a great job joining these people that jelled so well on screen. Manny Coto is a name I will be looking for in future projects as the same for the writers on this series. Like it was coming together and the characters we were seeing more of them, I know with a show that gets these great reviews they should Bring it Back !!!! The fans are demanding it :) Even though I have seen the actors on several other shows looks like they were enjoying it as well.
