policy134 This was the show that future Oscar nominee Haley Joel Osment was in but this was way before. The thing I remember most about this mediocre sitcom, to say the least, was that Ed Asner was the most unfunny guy I had ever seen in a sitcom. That may sound strange because he certainly had his share of credits on top rated shows like "Mary Tyler Moore" or "Lou Grant" but I have only heard about those, never seen them.Asner plays a gruff old man who suddenly gets a visit from his daughter and grandchildren that he won't necessarily like. It seems that they need a place to live for reasons I can't remember and which I am sure didn't make any sense anyhow. This thin premise was supposed to capture viewers and not only that but they replaced the actor playing the daughter before the first season was over. That's always a sign of desperation. So the sitcom lingered on for a little while longer and was finally canceled.Another thing I remember was that this sitcom tried to make this into the next "Home Improvement". They even used the same form of animated scene transitions as that more popular and better show. So what are you gonna do? There can't be many people that are sorry that didn't last longer and I doubt that Haley Joel Osment is crying himself to sleep over it.
lynzee-3 This was one of those great tv shows that deserved a longer run than it received. I saw Haley Joel and instantly loved him. He showed then what a good actor he is and I've been following his career ever since. Someday he will win an oscar.
