Ive just seen the start of the new series of tremors in the UK, and I thought it was realy good. OK they dont have the big budget to spend on a series like they do on films. I think this series has lots of chances to show it self. A lot of people put down Lexx to start with but that mangered to stay running more many years. I can only hope that this new show Tremors gets the same chance. The only thing you have to remember when watching sci-fi show or films is always keep an open mind. After all sci-fi show are based on WHAT IF???? and thats what views have to remember.

This franchise seems to have gotten worse with each new entry. The first movie is great, the second was just ok (but the Graboids looked like those robots from the Ninja Turtles cartoon), the 3rd film was silly, but the show is just plain dull. What really hurts it (besides cheesy effects) is that they really aren't doing much. It's the Scooby Doo scenerio: do the same thing every week. Either some baddies come to Perfection to kill or battle El Blanco or the gang is fighting off some cheesy monsters. This is beyond predictable. Unlike the much-missed "Farscape" show it replaced that made something out of nothing, this show makes nothing into garbage (ironically a writer/producer of "Farscape" works on this show, now that's sad). Another problem is that it's overly gory. There are some really nasty scenes in this one that might turn some people off of it. I don't recall the movies being this bloody. We really don't need this much carnage fellas. And just how many people live in the town of Perfection anyway? 5? Why not just get the hell out of there? Are they really that stupid to want to hang around while these bad things keep happening to them? Geez, they're dumber than the main characters of THE AMITYVILLE HORROR for crying out loud! It's also sad to think that such a great actor like Michael Gross went from "Family Ties" to this. He must really need the money badly to subject himself to this tripe. The rest of the cast of the first film knew when it was time to get outta Dodge yet poor Michael still sticks around. Somebody get him a new agent fast! Besides, if it wasn't for that really catchy theme song and that Rosalita babe there wouldn't be any reason to even bother with this show to begin with. They should subtitle this one "What A Way To Waste a Good Cast". This show is so bad it just might kill the franchise entirely. Way to screw up again Sci Fi!!! >:(

Okay, so If I had actually seen tremors this show might be a hoot. The story is just dumb, it doesn't stand up to the "83 cent" theory, which I apply to every action drama. Theory states that if all the drama could be avoided early on by a well placed .83 cent bullet, then it needs to be sent back to the script writers for a tune up. Some other Jarring problems...
The endangered species act doesn't prohibit a person shooting an animal in self defense or for the protection of others. Besides, the Government would capture them all and try to use them as weapons.(Which, incidently, would be a much better story...Drop them in the middle-east near a terrorist training camp and watch them snack.)Are all the residents of perfection crazy adrenaline junkies? Why don't they just go build a house a hundred feet from a volcano or something? The Idea that someone would want to develope hundreds of acres of worthless land in the middle of the dessert is way more far fetched than the possible existence of a subterranean worm.If Burt Hummer (is that his name?) could invent a watch sized seismometer, than his patent would make him rich beyond imagination and he could buy all the land from that other dork and live out his days driving around shooting stuff, and pretending he isn't hot for Mrs Kotter...

Just a great series that is as much fun as the movie series. For the avid Tremors fan, this series is a dream come true. Sure, the Graboids are what the films are about, but the real draw to the films is the characters. They do an excellent job of intertwining characters and plot lines from the films into the series. Past story lines are are strongly connected between the movies and the series, and all the "pieces fit together".The series continues the story line of what happens next to the characters, and their lives. Not necessarily all Graboids, but life with a Graboid alway there. You are drawn into the series, making you feel you are a character in the series, fully aware of the Graboid "routine".If you haven't seen the films, go out and rent all three of them (and I mean all three). I doubt you can really appreciate the series unless you understand the past history of the characters of Perfection Valley. They throw in so many references from the films, that a lot of the dialog might seem like an inside joke with you on the outside.Maybe they were not the best films. Maybe it is not the best series, but you have to love Michael Gross as Burt Gummer. Go Burt!
