inioi The facts are perfectly applicable to real life. And there is a really serious content in its plot.Sometimes it happens in our daily lives, or when we have to take a decision, life shows us some clues that we can follow: fortuitous event, strange coincidences...But often we are not sufficiently aware of these signals, or we just don't believe in it. Later on, we realize that this could have helped us or offer us something new to our lives. And then...our problems keeps unresolved.Cliff Martinez soundtrack is amazing, as well as the filmmaking.8/10
susan21454 This movie did run in the same vein as Memento and The Machinist; the whole feel of the movie was very surreal and you wondered what the outcome would be. I didn't feel quite as much tension as I would have liked, but it still kept me wondering how things would turn out. It portrays how your past can always catch up to you. Guy Pearce did an excellent job.I also have a question about the music in the movie. I have done a search of all the music in the credits, but cannot figure out which song is playing in the background during the bathtub scene. Can anyone tell me what it is?
wlee08 If you've ever read the short story "August Heat" by William Fryer Harvey, you'll have a pretty good idea about the kind of chills this movie delivers. Guy Pearce delivers a top-notch performance as the smooth-talking, quick-witted, traveling salesman. Equally powerful acting by the talented William Fichtner. The story is almost completely absorbing, no matter how sleep deprived you might be, you will watch it to the end. In fact, less sleep equals more tension here! There were quite a few edge of your seat moments, many bumps along the road. If you were affected by 'The Gift' you'll definitely be affected here. My only criticism is a loosely woven ending, something that could have been improved with a few relevant flashbacks.Put your seat belt on and enjoy the great panoramic shots along the way!
Manfrombelmonty What can I say...not much to this one at all. Pretty dull and uninteresting. The actors performances are just OK. The only one that shines in any way is Simmons, but he only has, maybe 3 scenes. I understand that by keeping his screen time to a minimum he retains the mysterious psychic aura he has, but I can't help but feel his talent was wasted. No one else rose above mediocre. The story itself seems like it may be intriguing at the beginning, but then just doesn't go anywhere. There wasn't a single scene in the movie that impressed me or made me feel like I had just seen something special. The cinematography was fairly bland...I mean desert in a washed out sort of sepia...not very inspiring. The story of his childhood pal back outta prison seemed only partially thought out and didn't really add anything to the story, other than making an average 'Twilight Zone' script into a full length feature.Drab.
