Cee Jay I signed up just to review this movie! I haven't seen a more touching film in my entire life. I'm usually one of those obnoxious people who will laugh at anyone who cries in a movie. Especially during sad movies. The Notebook did nothing for me. But this movie has everything - lost love, trying to help your parents - it has all of the criteria for a nice, family film. I cried like a baby at some parts, without even knowing. And I cry every time I see it. The actors play their roles so genuinely. If you're in it for watching a nice, feel good film, this is the right one for you. It has a happy ending, heartbreak, and it has emotion for you to play on. The music is fun after you get used to it, and if music isn't your thing, fast forward the songs. The best part is that the random comedy scenes all relate to one another, and you can point out hints at the lead pair's past through them. The chemistry between the two lead actors is beautiful. The sad moments are painful because, yes, I can see this happening in any ordinary household. It's not some fancy, sad movie about a couple who are tragically destined to die together. And that makes it all the more real.So to finish myself off, definitely watch. You'll enjoy it, even in subtitle form.
silvan-desouza This was Karan Johar's debut as a director, we all know that The film went on to become a blockbuster The film is typical love triangle, some scenes are too corny though especially the college scenes where half the college is worried about Rahul and Anjali fighting, anywayz seems like KJO has never been to college anytime in his life. However they are some funny scenes, of course mostly clichéd. The twist is well handled however you have to leave your brain behind The film does have some good emotional scenes which are of course too melodramatic. Yet the film does move you at times. The climax is predictable but well handledDirection is decent Music is goodSrk is as usual, hamming in some scenes but doing well in some, KJO mostly makes him ham in films yet must say he carries his role well Kajol is superb though she does prance too much while playing the college kid, Rani is decent, this was one of her first films Anupam Kher is funny as the stupid college principal only found in KJO land, Archana Puran Singh is okay, Salman Khan is good in his cameo, Himani SHivpuri, Reema Lagoo and others are good, Sana Saeed is okay Johny Lever has some funny moments
manikagarwal2 9/10, Chemistry, thats d word dat describes the movie.. One got to c by himself the lovely chemistry between the lead pairs to believe it.. Both of them have pitched in with perfect acts n more importantly successfully portrayed the feel of love dat so much forms the essence of the movie.. People are not fans of SRK for nothing, he by his act has so very beautifully added to his romantic image.. It was like magic on screen , he simply rules every shot with his larger than life persona.. Never looks like he is acting, he makes it so very easy n comfortable.. N not just romantic moments but equally beautiful is his moments with his daughter and Rani .. Some very fine emotional moments r witnessed between him as a father n his young eight yr.old daughter, who in fact forms a very important link in the movie & one of the best endearing, truly heart touching performance by a child in a long time!! Watching SRK flirt in first half to his small cute dance with Kajol, everything has been marvelously picturised n enacted against a backdrop of some very romantic times n singing.. Kajol too matches him step by step, n deserves accolades for giving my generation a truly magical pair!!! Mam, be it d atypical college girl look or the transformation to an Indian woman, you just does it like no one else.. Rani too in her special appearance act looks n gives a decent act.. In fact thats the creativity n genius of a few directors, to make ur actors work like a unit, not giving individual performances .. Every actor , detailing, sets, emotions, humor, costumes, fun is typical of karan like months n months if thought process gone!! Dialogues, screenplay, story, every stuff beats his trademark, a uniqueness, freshness n artistic excellence., a Showman in true sense.. God, what a beautiful romantic composition by the duo, who have over the years been instrumental in composing for some great flicks, & its like, what SRK is to romance, they are to romantic hits!!! Awesome work .. And not to forget the vocals behind the lead actors, especially uditji, alkaji & kavitaji, who I feel have been the backbone but forgotten stars of our music industry, especially uditji who has ibfact sung for many SRK hits, copying his pitch very accurately but to very less credit..! Also creditable is the friendship angle & that new concept but such a novel one, that love is friendship!! Karan sir, please avoid being in front of the camera & concentrate in behind the camera-work as a director..Apart from few snags in the story, all love stories have, watch it with your loved ones & fall in love again...
Sonia !belhaj You won't be called a Bollywood fan if you haven't seen this classic. It casts some of the best actors in the industry at the time except Amit-ji: Shah Rukh of course, who way deserved his Filmfare, Kajol, best actress in Bollywood ever, Rani Mukherji, Salman Khan (in one of his last good performances), Anupam Kher, Farida Jalal, Reema Lagoo, ...With very good music (the title song is a forever classic!), entertaining dance moves, a nice script, and the most beautiful Jodi ever on screen: SRK and Kajol! Though Kjo has kind of cheesy 'cliché's sometimes (like the kid sobbing 'Ma, Ma!'), it's a sweet movie you're sure to enjoy and remember!
