Synopsis

Traveling Route 66, a charismatic preacher, Reverend Johnny Jones, and his seductively beautiful Latina girlfriend, Rebecca, find their lives spiraling out of control as they travel from small town to small town; running their scam on the churches they encounter along the mother road. He's able to convince people he has the power to heal their illnesses and solve their most dreadful life experiences. But what the couple think is their scam begs the question does he really have the power? It's a question that haunts him and only intensifies his inner demons. Scarred for life, his childhood abuse from his evil father won't soon go away. He finds temporary refuge at the bottom of each bottle of tequila and endless grams of cocaine that goes up his nose. His childhood demons will not subside, neither will his vices. In the end, his powers serve as a blessing and a curse. Hang on tight while we follow this perilous couple's journey into the abyss of miracles and tragedy.

Reviews

Fimano I had the opportunity to attend the premiere for this movie in Dallas last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was very reminiscent of BONNIE & CLYDE but with a twist. Leads Jesse James and Mariana Paola Vicente played well off each other and the film employed a plethora of well-known character actors, such as Burton Gilliam, Dennis O'Neill, and Larry Jack Dotson. Overall, it was a really good movie and I look forward to seeing what director Norman Gregory McGuire delivers next.
juanbadilla My comment comes a little bit late, but I've seen this movie two days ago for the first time. It's a pretty good road movie type thriller. If it would have had some more action, it could have rated between 8 and 9, but I'll give it a 7. Jesse James (the actor) is all grown up now.
dana_ortiz-96595 I will go see a good Indy Film over the Hollywood Blockbusters every day of the week. The Filmmaker told a great story (original) and carried it all the way to a great ending. Having hot chicks in the movie is never a bad thing either. Two thumbs up!
leemusselman "The Lucky Man" can be compared to Malick's '73 masterpiece "The Badlands" in several ways. It's a damn good road show, and the killings have a purose. This is a film that just grows darker until the very end. It never gets dull. I don't know how realistic the ending is, but it does close out the movie. I do see a sequal.
