view_and_review 14 years later Joe Dirte (as he likes to call himself) is going through another saga. He married the love of his life, Brandy (Brittany Daniel), and they had triplets (three daughters: Dakota, Cheyenne, and Abilene). Everything was cool in the Dirt world until his daughters saw him being victimized by his coworkers (a fart joke that went waaaay too long). It was then that Joe Dirt figured he had to be different/better to gain the respect of his three little girls.Joe Dirt was not in need of a sequel--but truthfully how many movies are in need of sequels? But considering the plethora of sequels out there--with the majority of them being awful--this wasn't too bad. David Spade had the same mannerisms, speech and gullibility of Joe Dirt. Brittany Daniels was still the gorgeous love interest. And even Christopher Walken reprised his role as Clem. That's where the parallels stop. It was not quite as funny and that was really just the writing. It didn't have the same appeal, even the story wasn't as captivating. With all of that it was still entertaining enough.
MovieHoliks I remember becoming excited upon hearing they were making a sequel to the 2001 David Spade comedy, but then more recently went back and watched it again for the first time in over a decade, and why exactly was I so excited-?? LOL I also was not aware this was going direct to online- was thinking it would be a theatrical release. "Beautiful Loser" is the first made-for-a-website sequel to a theatrically released film. Crackle decided to do this to develop their film studio. The first review I read for this was, let's just say, not pretty...LOL So I had very little in the way of high expectations for this when I got around to watching it the other night. But the film actually wasn't all that bad. It kinda does a take-off on "Forrest Gump" this time around with Joe telling his second story to a lady on a park bench. This time the movies goes into the supernatural a bit with a whole time-travel angle. I would say the most amusing scene in the film was Joe sitting around talking to a teenage preppy young Lynyrd Skynyrd-??- but other than that, unless you're a huge fan of the original, I'd go watch something else, in fact there is probably better original material on Crackle-??
FlashCallahan So there was so much demand from fans to David Spade, begging him to make a sequel to his quite average creation from the early noughties, he felt the need to respect his fans and make this? David, I think you've lost a lot of credit, and by the look on your face in many scenes, I think you know this. The plot consists of many elements from other movies, most notably The Wizard Of Oz, It's A Wonderful Life, Back To The Future, and Scrooged, but with all the heart and soul from those movies torn out and disposed of.I suppose the moral of the whole film is that the grass isn't always greener, and money doesn't buy you love and happiness, but it seems that the makers have just wanted to string a load of insufferable bodily fluid gags together, throw in a couple of strange cameos and hope that it all turns out well in the end.The majority of the cast from the first film are back, probably because they haven't worked in years, and again, several of the cast members look bemused to be there.Daniels to be fair is really good, at least she looks as if she's putting some effort into it.But it's Spade who comes out the worse for wear in this, and after initially becoming annoyed with his characters loser like like qualities, I found myself actually feeling sorry for Spade, because after the Castaway homage, he really starts to look bewildered and embarrassed with everything that is going on.Spade was once a quite sharp instrument, he really made mundane movies like Black Sheep that little more endearing, thanks to his sarcastic traits. But here, it's all gone, Spade just looks so drained, so tired, it's as if the film is a metaphorical on your knees beg to Adam Sandler to cast him in his next film. And this is a Happy Madison production. When a film makes you feel sorry for a multi-millionaire film star, something is seriously wrong.
namashi_1 A sequel to the cult 2001 film Joe Dirt, 'Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser' is THE most unexpected sequel to have come out in recent times. I mean, the prequel was outlandish, but fun. But, a sequel? That too after a gap of 14 long years? Certainly, this was an expected move taken by the folks behind the camera & I must say, their decision of a newer Joe Dirt legend doesn't really make you laugh hard.'Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser' is strictly for those, who have felt something for its uninspiring protagonist in its last outing. The jokes here, though there is a twist of time travel, strictly fare between mediocre to plain dull. I did laugh, its not like I didn't, but overall, there is feeling of under-whelm. Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser' Synopsis: When happy family man Joe Dirt finds himself transported to the recent past, he begins an epic journey to get back to his loved ones in the present.'Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser' is whatever it is, for better or worse, for David Spade. Reprising his role as Joe Dirt, Spade, who's lack of dramatic chops have kept him away from any genre but Comedy, oozes energy. He is definitely better than the film & undoubtedly, also the film's lifeline. Expect less & chances of being disappointed may not happen.
