EP1 The Thirty-Year Itch Sep 27, 2002

Travis Glass is a door salesman who lives with his mother, while the woman he really wants to be living with is married to his older brother. Travis needs a makeover—and he gets one when a lightning bolt and the Kinks' ""Do It Again"" combine to send him back 14 years to high school. Now he does have a chance to do it again. Trouble is, his actions produce consequences that will keep him hopping back and forth in time.

EP2 Mayor May Not Oct 04, 2002

Back in the present, Travis is mayor of Jasper. He's also married to Lanie, and that makes his ex-best friend Pinkus (who has a crush on Lanie) his abiding foe. So he must return to 1988 to unhitch himself. And while there, he must also get Claudia to stop hating Greg. If he doesn't, his nephew Ethan won't be born. Then there's the matter of the $5000 Travis stole from his bookie father, Double G. And Timmy, whose life he just saved, is demanding that his wrecked truck be replaced.

EP3 Under Noah's Certain Terms Jan 01, 0001

Travis sees a high-school classmate on an unsolved-crimes TV show, and goes back to 1988 to deter him from a life on the wrong side of the law. But that's not all Travis has to fix: There are Gregg and Claudia to reunite; and Double D's life to save, one strip of bacon at a time. Meanwhile, the teenage Pinkus wants to travel back in time himself. (It seems that there was an incident at summer camp he wants to change.)

EP4 A Rock and a Head Case Jan 01, 0001

Travis is in jail, so he figures he must go back to 1988 to change the course of his life. ""I have to clear my name,"" he tells Pinkus. ""Lose the bad-boy label. Labels stick."" Also back then: Claudia's relationship with Timmy Robinson is blossoming, which really wounds Gregg. And Zooey's not doing well in school, even though she's really smart. The reason, she says, is that she doesn't want to be a ""freak."" Travis' advice to both siblings: ""Just be who you are."" They do so, with results that, while predictable, aren't pretty.

denvermichaels let me first say that i am biased. i had just arrived in los angeles to pursue my career in acting in july 2002 when i realized that being an extra would be a good, easy way to get my first taste of the biz. i was disheartened to find that extras are treated like dirt on most tv shows. even more depressing was that the overall environment of even the most successful shows (like ER) is filled with stress and unhappiness.when i started working on 'that was then', it restored my faith in showbiz. all the actors and crew had such great time working together. there was so much pride and optimism in everyone's work. they really thought this show could be the next big thing...i watched the first two episodes. i thought they were both great. well acted all around. they had the poignancy and humor of cameron crowe and john hughes. james bulliard and tyler lablane were both fantastic (and, i might add, wonderfully friendly people on the set). kiele sanchez was mesmerizingly beautiful (and a very sweet girl in person as well). once i saw the show, i realized why the actors and crew were always so nice and happy. they were making a very good show.and then my heart sank when i found out that the show was cancelled. i was actually working on the show the day before abc canned it. and by then, everyone knew that the ratings were bad, so the atmosphere was a little less optimistic and happy. but everyone was still nice, got along well, and worked hard. the next day, they were all unemployed again. abc said that it was a good show in a bad timeslot and they were looking to put it somewhere else. seems that those plans have been scrapped. it is months later and i still wish i could thank the actors on this show for being the ONLY actors i ever encountered who would take the time to talk to the extras and even eat with them during lunch. i wish them all the best of luck.
grape-6 This was such a great series, so of course ABC canceled it after just two episodes. The story was great, and so was the '80s music. The only problem with this series was the time slot (Friday night at 8pm.) If ABC had put this series in a decent time slot, it might have had a chance. What a shame.
stilldragons Wow, I'm impressed! This is far and away the best written series premiere that I've seen this season. I was on the edge of my seat fifteen minutes into the show and didn't leave that spot until the show was over. Will I be back? You better believe it!
jeffs1962caddy I just saw the the first episode tonight and I was real impressed.I thought the show was great.I always wanted to turn back the clock and change my life.As we all know we cant.I will continue watching this show untill the day it is cancelled.
