Reviews

Andrew Ives I bought the Tru Calling complete boxset for someone for Xmas, not planning to watch much of it myself. After watching the first few episodes, I was quite hooked which is very rare for me. If it was ever aired in the UK, I never saw it. I bought it solely on the strength of good reviews on IMDb.At times it reminded me of Ghost Whisperer, Without a Trace, Highway to Heaven, Buffy, Terminator, Sliding Doors, Back to the Future and most of all, like a more agreeable, polished version of the German film, Run Lola Run. If you like any of these films or series, you are sure to enjoy Tru Calling. By Season 2, it veers slightly away from these and takes on a feel of its own. I would rate every episode a consistent 7 or 8/10, and the plot of many of them was about as intricate as a 40 minute story can be. Perhaps the show was cancelled because a few of them were a little too intricate for many viewers' attention span.Such a shame the series was not only cancelled, but not 'tidied up' with a goodbye episode. As Jack says to Tru near the end of the last episode, "It was nice while it lasted."
Anna N. This show I found by chance. I saw a commercial advertising its release and not knowing anything about it I bought it on chance. Now I never do this normally but for some reason this time I did. I have never regretted it. I have been an Eliza Dushku fan since Buffy so that's probably the main reason I wanted to see this.It was definitely an interesting show. Really good in my opinion and short lived show. Seems like every show I like gets canceled, maybe I'm just unlucky. I thought the idea for the show was great. OK, sure it was a lot like Ghost Whisperer but truthfully I didn't know that at the time because I didn't watch it. Still I thought the characters were great and I really did like the plot. Although it didn't really end. Like Angel it really got canceled too soon and really wasn't given a proper ending. Again like Angel it really just needed one more season to tie up some things but didn't get the chance. This in my opinion is a really good show though and to my idea has one of the best title songs ever on TV. Really not many people know about this show which I find sad. It really didn't get its chance to shine but to the fans it did have it will be remembered.
supernaturalfan1 This was a great TV show that was ahead of it's time. Unfortunately it's network canceled it when it was filming its 7th episode of the 2nd series. Tru (Eliza Dushku) starts working at a morgue to help her get a job as a doctor. On her first night at the morgue a corpse wakes up and asks her for help. The day starts again and Tru tries to save the victim and gets the opportunity to know what will happen and get a second chance to do something about it.The show was great and so was the concept. It had humour, suspense and get kept you wondering if Tru could save the day. The characters were great and they unfolded every week so we learned more about them. Tru calling is available on DVD with the complete first season and the 6 episodes from the second series. Go out and buy it you won't regret it.
scottyboy31984 Can I just say how good this series is...and how shocked I am it got the chop! After all the buyers of the collection and all the supporting watchers, the least that could happen you would think is that the final episode, actually would be a final episode. The door has not been shut, and very much doubt that it ever will be. What a waste, I'm sure a last episode would of made this a lot better! I think it is so shocking, I feel like asking for a refund. Companys like Fox need to learn not everything is a hit straight away, Friends wasn't as popular in the first series, look at how that turned out.Apart from last episode, its excellent, I sat there thinking I could guess what would happen and it is just so clever! This could of really went somewhere......
