sdpigott132 Well first off you should know that "The Magical Legend of the Leprechauns" is a double plot and double love story. The main plot and story is about the fairies ,both solitary(leprechauns)and trooping(fairies). For hundreds of years the leprechauns and trooping fairies have been at war and the Grand Banshee has just given a decree that the fighting is to stop at once, and anyone who continues to fight "will pay the ultimate price"(death- fairies and leprechauns are supposed to be immortal and never die, except for drowning- that gets em). If any of you remember Romeo and Juliet this will set off warning signals. One of the trooping fairies kills a leprechaun, and the leprechaun's friend kills the trooping fairy. It continues on in a Romeo and Juliet fashion(except the lovers don't die and all those who did die are brought back to life by the Grand Banshee - well all but the one trooping fairy who wanted the fighting to go on and who picked the fight with and killed a leprechaun). The other plot and story is about humans. One human saves a leprechaun from drowning and by that one act of kindness gets DRAGGED kicking and screaming in to the world of the leprechauns and the war between the two groups of immortals. While befriending(and helping the leprechauns) he has to figure out what to do about his love interest(and her half-a-dozen,huge,over-baring,hotheaded,overprotective brothers).I'm not going to tell why the Grand Banshee brought the leprechauns and trooping fairies back to life, or what characters had to do what to get her to renounce her punishment on those who disobeyed her. And you will just have to watch to see what happens with the humans of the story. And you should find out what happens at the very, very end of the story. I have alway disliked the story of Romeo and Juliet. This has all the good stuff from Romeo and Juliet and it has a smarter lead couple and a MUCH better ending. But that is just my opinion. Peace out and good viewing. love S
keys Another triumph! This film is now number 1 in my list of the worst films I've ever seen with Ernie Goes to Prison now languishing at number 2. Why Colm Meaney got involved I cannot imagine, maybe he owes community service or something. A lot of the cast were Irish too, the worst accents were REAL! Then again I'm not in the target demographic, not even in its suburbs so I have no idea on what level I should be giving my critique, its not even that relevant. I only saw the second half of it by accident. Couldn't switch, was frozen in horror. Randy Quaid, Kieran Culkin, Zoe Wanamaker, Whoopi, what is going on? I did not expect to actually recognise much of the cast in a production like this. I'd say kids love it though so fair enough. I wont even comment on the CGI. Ooops, I just did.And we spell recognise with an s, not a z. Capeesh?
info-6107 "The Magical Legend of the Leprechauns" Just look at the title and ask your self: "What is this?" Well, I'm now going to answer that. First I would start with the story. A "lepr...something" is in love with a fairy princess (sounds sweet). But they can't have each other (usual stuff) bla bla. Then Mickey kills a fairy. They're having a fight. The fairy kills one of the "lepr...whatever's" friend and then kills the fairy. Now the fairies wants revenge and goes to war against the "lepre...dudes". And then a war starts. Then some people has to save the world, as the nature goes amok, because the fairies are controlling the nature. So they have to stop the war, bla bla bla. So on, so on. Now with top stars: Whoopi Goldberg and (Randy Quaid) this movie sounds good. NOOTT!! As usual there are the special effects, which are of course bad, since it's a TV production. And so is the speed of the movie. And there is no Irish feeling in the people. None of them with the good, old Irish accent. Maybe that's because most the cast includes mostly British or American actors. So don't have high expectations on this movie, cause it (shall I use the word) sucks!!
Chris J-2 Faries, leprechauns, magic, commedy. A wonderful little world of magic, fantasy and beauty combined with love stories and a beautiful soundtrack. An amazing picture for the whole family
